    RIP Dan Guerney

He made it to old age. Considering the time he raced, that's an achievement. Made one of the most beautiful F1 cars ever, the Eagle, and won Spa in it. And winner of the first Cannonball run, with Brock Yates at his side, in a Ferrari Daytona. Yates's writing about Guerney doing that in Sunday Driver is quite entertaining.

6ft. 4". They had to put a little bulge in the GT 40 roof to accomadate him. You'll never see a driver so tall anymore. They're all jockeys now.

Great career and a great man, one of a rare breed of engineering minds. Always grated my nerves a little when someone would refer to a Gurney Flap as a "wickerbill."

Thats really cool. He remembered the whole thing. Thats a long time ago.

I saw Can Am a little later, not with him. Those things were incredible. Roaring, nasty American 427 and plus iron, sitting in a frame and covered by a quivering fiberglass shell. Whats really cool is that he said his pole time was a tad quicker than F1 laps recorded there. That's something. That's fast.

Had several of my track racers setup to look like his cars.
