Your new Corporate Overlords Are now Alterra

Interested to see their epic pass competitor. Some of the mountains in their collection have $2k season passes so I find it hard to believe we will be seeing a $699, but you never know.
Probably spent a few million to come up with that name.Last edited by ncskier; 01-11-2018 at 01:49 PM.

Well.... We now have duopoly...
How long until the remaining independents are gobbled up by the two behemoths? 5 years?

Interesting that Aspen is not on this list. Didn't Aspen Ski company "purchase" Squaw and Mammoth last year?

Alterra reminds me of Altria the fine people that bring you smokey treats and beer.

Aspen and KSL formed a partnership that purchased Squalpine, as far as I recall. Interesting that Aspen must have gotten out of the partnership.
Edit: Alterra is the name for the partnership, Aspen is still part of it. https://www.denverpost.com/2018/01/1...pen-skiing-co/

CMH is an interesting addition to the portfolio. The Vail Resorts Deathstar doesn't own any heli-skiing properties, does it?

Curious what affect this will have on the Copper/Winter Park pass.... and what the actual price point will be to compete with Epic(TM)

I wonder if this will impact or change the resorts included in the Mountain Collective pass?

The branding folks sure worked hard on this name...wasn't even ready for ski season ...craftsmanship like that takes time...and lots of committees and focus groups
I have to wonder, if KSL calling itself Alterra is kinda like Comcast calling themselves Xfinity...we have such a shitty rep we need to change our name to fool people?

I knew it wasn't but thought it was funny. Probably only funny to me, and only mildly. I was bored. I should've put a smiley after it.

I’ve been told to expect an announcement about a joint pass in a few weeks. Also heard they are partnering with some major non-KSL/aspen/intrawest resorts to make an even bigger season pass.
I assume the entry version of the pass will be more expensive than the Epic pass.

I’m wondering about this too. I assume squaw, mammoth and aspen will all leave, which means Mountain Collective would have some huge resorts to replace. I’d be happy if they finally added Big Sky, it’s been part of their surveys for years and prices there are so expensive. Maybe Mt. Rose or Sugarbowl would join?

Wasn't there something about DV buying Brighton? Does that get included? Utards would conceivably wind up with competitive pass prices at places worth skiing?
Would love to see some more price competition in rates, since they seem to be getting out of hand.
