Bears look so soft and fuzzy and those ears are adorable. I just want to hug one. Too bad they've got all those teeth and claws.

My neighbors are volunteers with a local wildlife sanctuary. This little guy was one of 3 orphaned cubs brought in, after their mother was killed (my state is one of just a few states that allow bear hunting with both hounds AND bait).
At this point he was still being bottle-fed...after he was successfully weaned, they minimized contact with humans. He & his siblings were released back into the wild that fall, after hunting season ended, hopefully to live long, happy, lives.

I know this won't mean much, but as a hunter, I detest bait and dog hunting.
I also hate bear hunting with a passion that would make PETA blush.
Sorry and good job on the rescue.

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

    Fake news. ^

These two little guys used to terrorize the neighborhood.

Mamma bear still cruises for trash cans in springtime. She was off the side of the street calling the kids to mind the traffic when I took this.
