I've been out on a handful of days in CO in the minus 20s. At those temps the snow turns to velcro, pretty much no glide.

Amazing how snow dendrites can dig into the base when it's that cold eh? Kinda cool.

The 'freezer burn' we saw this week in the shop was nuts. We had to grind almost all of of season tune skis again. Not cool

Yup. In 1989 (?) I skied Heavenly when they set an all time overnight low of -26* (-27*?), high temp was -14*. I was able to ski 6-7 runs then needed a warm up for about a half hour. Didn't have enough heavy base layers being from the PNW. I still got over 20 runs in.

With 30w oil in the crankcase of my 1972 Ford E150, it took an entire can of WD40 to start it up. Had my hydroplane in tow, was coming home from the Winter Nationals in Indio CA.

Fuck, I'm driving west. It's fucking raining up there again. This season officially sucks.

Edit: This is good for easterners, though, because you know it's going to start dumping in Vermont as soon as I hit the Continental Divide.

Good luck asshole. Hope you dickfaceplant in your January mud. I'll be looking for real snow on real mountains.

Jesus, that's how bad it gets. Some people think rain twice in January is ok. Pathetic.

Oh sorry. The lift ramps are in really steep there.

I’m sure Tahoe will kick ass, oh....

Don’t worry, Jackson will have a fresh 4” by Saturday.

I hope your AAA trip-tik has directions to the snow.

Hey now, NOAA saying 1.5 to 2' this week for Squaw / Alpine. Which will put them over 100" for the season 😨

You know you can't take a forecast for the towns / cities near the mountains right?
