If you can't fly into Salzburg or Innsbruck go in to Zurich and out Munich. Start with the arlberg. They get the most snow but there is lots of competition. There are some smaller places near there in vorarlberg province that I havnt been to which will probably be less crowded and worth a try.
I've always Liked the Salzburg province too. It seems less crowded than Tyrol. Good places to base yourself here are radstadt or maybe bad gastein. They are both good if traveling by train. From the former ski at Obertauern or zauche see. The latter has less snow but is easy access and has an opportunity to go to karnten which can get storms the rest of Austria doesn't. There ski at molltal, heilingenblut or further go to nassfeld. I think you'll need a car there. Finally if you can make it further east the places near bad ausee are good but you will probably want a car. Cheers.

You could do a home stay with Gary Bigham and his family in Chamonix like I did last year. Staying with him was a great experience.

Thread bump. This turned into my all time favorite ski trip. I flew into Milan with a co-worker (a dude who reported to me at the time) and we spent a week in the Dolomites before flying to this conference in Barcelona. We spent a week exploring in and around Val di Fasa and spent a day skiing with an old friend in South Tyrol. The skiing, the food, etc all blew me away. I got home to Colorado after Barcelona and had like 5 days before heading up to a backcountry camping trip in the central coast mountains. Seems like a different life with covid happening now and travel being closed.
