We've had a pair at Donner Lake for quite a while. And a lot of gulls. I fairly frequently think I see one of the osprey soaring until it gets close and I can see the body or it lands on the water and floats. But then I'm no birder.

This is crazy. Second sighting. Same thing, two of them jostling near the ground before they flew away. Except this time, I witnessed it from the fast lane somewhere in nowhere Iowa on I80. Convinced it was a bald eagle, same white tail, same size, ten feet from the car at its closest.

It sounds uncomfortable, but we've got ospreys coming out of our ass around our place in Mass.

You think it's uncomfortable, but just try being a fish.

We've been watching two baldies sitting on fence posts from our front window the past 3 weeks.

Not this time of year. They flew to South America, Cuba or Florida in the fall. Look for nesting pairs to return to Mass starting in April. Some migrants might fly through a few weeks earlier than that. Good see nesting Osprey populations increasing in your area.
