I just went through my 2017 planner to transfer some things to 2018 planner. At Wolf Creek on 1/6/17, the season to date total snowfall was 204". Current STD is 53" with nothing in forecast. FML

It hit 63 yesterday here in Flagstaff at 7k but it felt more like 70 in the sun. That was a record high. We've had 2 inches for the season up at 10,500k. I have strangely become used to groomer skiing and I've been looking at GS race skis online as well as bikes for a spring purchase.

Woke up to snow on the front range. Hopefully that means they get more than the 1-3 forecasted for the northern mountains and that it drops further south than forecasted. Our San Juan brothers need some love.

Skied Mammoth earlier this week. Decent, considering the coverage elsewhere in the Golden State. But if they don’t get more snow, they will be hurting, bad!

Then, I decided to chase a storm up to Mt Bachelor. NOAA forecasted 9-13”. I wake up today; no new snow and at least an inch of rain overnight. They lost at least 2” of their base. And word is their plows couldn’t break the surface. Awesome.

I’ve now resorted to day drinking.

All kinds of folks were skinning up to Jones and Butler yesterday when I was up there snowshoeing with my kids. The tide sure looked low to me though. Got to be a shit ton of stuff lurking just below the surface. Sure as hell wouldn't catch me attempting to ski any backcountry trees in conditions like that.
