a quick question that i cannot recall being answered previously in the thread:

so i understand that there might be a tiny bit of an issue with pivot and shift mounting patterns for 2 of the shift's 5 mounting holes (center holes up front - as such prob not a deal breaker as 3 full holes and 2 with a bit of overlap/close run thing should be sufficient from my point of view - i am not a huge, powerful guy).

Does anybody know how vipec/tecton mounting patterns and shift ones jives? Any issues?

I've tried searching online, but have yet to find any info other than general mounting pattern info, and my no skis at hand to do measurements on.

i am contemplating swapping tectons for shifts on a pair of BGs, but not if it means basically having to buy new skis to mount the line.

in advance - thanks for any and all help, even if said info already is posted and my searching skills is what is lacking.

Here's an overlay of the two. I traced (poorly) the shift holes onto the Vipec template.

The front looks good to go, but if it was me I would probably mount my rear binding forward about 1.0 cm and adjust it back to the right BSL.

Right on. There's a link to the Shift template on the Binding Mount Paper Templates thread (Post #1251).

Hole spacing dimensions have been verified against a jig (by buttahflake, in this thread a few posts above), but it hasn't been field tested yet to make sure the boot center is dead on.

My stock order for crampons has been acknowledged for delivery to me on the 6th Nov.

They're only availabe in 100mm and 120mm and Salomon UK can't tell me what their actual width is so I won't know until they arrive.

The post after that is a PDF scaled to print at the stated dimensions.

Prints to scale if you set it up to print at 100% and your printer can do that. It's unverified until my bindings arrive in September.

Anyone know hole overlap with beast 14? Prefer to wait a year on these before buying but have a pair of sticks and beast 14 that I'd like to use this winter and then potentially put shifts on next year.

For anyone mounting with inserts this is my system. These were screws rear I had laying around.

    Here is another online article.

    https://snowmonkeyskimo.blogspot.com...serts.html?m=1

Front lug, not super happy with the fit on this one. Looking for a narrower head that will pop right in there. The overlap doesn’t effect it when mounting though.

For the rear plate it’s the same low profile screws as the middle screws used on the front of the binding.

I found that when using the screws from the link posted above they were a bit long. I’m still not quite sure where to measure screws from? Lol. Is it where the threads start? Or from the head of the screw?

Screw it that’s why I attached pics.

It's from where the threads start

Edit: really it's from the underside of the head. Where the head becomes the shaft. Sometimes the shaft is smooth before the ribs, and the smooth part counts as length. No smooth shaft on binding screws, obviously, but on screws for other purposes... If you know what I mean.

Edit: hmph. Ya learn something new every ten minutes...

Based on this I'm going to assume that there's confusion in the industry that may augment our own.

Just fit a 100mm brake on my goats (116mm underfoot for the non-fanbois) with minimal bending.

Took a vise-grip, and applied a bit of pressure outwards. No heating the metal, no excessive torque.

Flat head screws (like most ski screws) are measured full-length. All others that I can think of (pan heads, hex heads, socket heads, etc) are measured from underside of the head to the end.

    Yup.

The only exception I can think of is one of Binding Freedom's screws - either the small head or low head.

I may be wrong about this. I'll check a spreadsheet I built which catalogs BF's recommended screws (for bindings I use) vs. industry standard screws (like flat heads).

I seem to recall a measuring discrepancy. I'll check and update this post.

I kinda thought the brakes looked on the flimsy side; likely to keep weight down.

haven't pulled the trigger yet but was planing to buy the 110's for my BG's, although I like a snug fitting brake and from what I've read, a snug brake is a good idea with these binders while touring, I may go 100 and do some bending, thanks.

For reference. 100mm brakes just fit over Black Crows Corvus (2018) - 109mm waist. Might file down the plastic a little so it doesn't catch up, but probably don't even need to bend them. Can post up pics when I get around to drilling them.

What's the best deal on these right now? Active junky and Backcountry? Not expecting much since they are new, but figured I'd check with the collective.
