I'm pretty sure a higher riser would be the easiest thing to modify at this point ?

Edit: one thing Lee, is it really $650CAD MSRP? One place in your article is says $549USD and another $649USD. Thx.
My bad. 650 cad. 550 USD. 450 EUR

But note how I measured. Alpine bindings usually measure bootsole bottom to ski topsheet.

I measured for AT boots using Lou's methods. I'll stick an alpine boot in the SHIFT and get a number. FYI STH16 and 12 binding delta is 6.5mm

Complicated little piece this SHIFT binding was. Keep the questions coming. Answers summarized below

They will probably be pumping them out all summer. I hope they don’t have any manufacturing defects due to rushing for the large anticipated demand.

So Cody, did you introduce the Shift on that ski forum you were talking about?

    CODY
    I did.

    ENGINEER 1
    And how did they react?

    CODY
Overall I’d say it went pretty well. A few concerns but I was able to answer most of their questions.

    MARKETING GUY
Do you think you can send us a link so we can get an idea of their initial reactions?

    CODY
Well, I can just kind of sum it up for—

    MARKETING GUY 2
If you don’t mind, we’d like to see for ourselves just to get the full scope...

Cody cringes and scans the room, looking for some kind of escape.

    CODY
    Well...

    ENGINEER 1
That’s probably a good idea. Why don’t you just send us a link?

    CODY
    (Looking defeated)
    Uhh... okay...

He removes his phone from his pants pocket and begins pulling up what he needs to find. After a few minutes he finishes his task with a shrug and decisive final tap.

    CODY
All right, there you go. I emailed it to you all.

Cody begins to rise from his chair when Marketing Guy 1 motions for him to stay.

    MARKETING GUY 1
If you don’t mind, can you stick around for a moment in case we have any follow-up questions?

    CODY
    (Sinking back into his chair)
    Sure.

The collection of Salomon engineers and Marketing staff concentrate on their individual laptops in front of them.

At first there’s pure silence as everyone around the table reads intensely. Cody shifts in his chair, nervously. More silence. A beat. Then a chuckle or two.

A few minutes more pass and there are several audible growns and under the breath mumbling.

Finally, Marketing Guy 2 slaps the table, visibly upset.

    MARKETING GUY 2
What a bunch of assholes! Who the fuck are these people??!

    CODY
    Well, skiers?

    MARKETING GUY 1
But they barely even pay attention to what’s being said!

    CODY
    Well... yeah, but—

    ENGINEER 1
Fuck these assholes! Who gives a shit what they think??

    MARKETING GUY 1
Look Cody, these twats are useless... I don’t think you should waste your time here anymore.
I lol'ed. And not like the lol that teenagers put while sitting silently in their bedrooms mindlessly snapchatting while trying to get around their parents Parental Filters so they can access PornHub, like a real lol.

I'll see what I can do. I spoke with a local shop in Tahoe who would be keen, but don't know how it would be handled with shipping and what not. I'd prefer to have the group order go through a core local shop, but I'll look into it.

Ripped around on Atomic alpine boots today in resort after a mini dusting on the Backland 107 SHIFT combo. Forgot that part of the run wasn't groomed so was ripping around and zigged to get around some slower movers and ooops into some dust on crust moguls. Gritted teeth and hung on.

Not sure what impressed me more. That i didn't beater pre-release. Or that the skis didn't explode. Or that my knees didn't fold. No gaper pro footy.

Lent the setup to powder11 also for 3 days and he's still alive as is the setup after being on the feet of a 200 pound ex-racer skiing 100 days a year

We are up to 19 responses. That is ~$10k. Thank you to those who have participated/are interested. If you are on the fence there are options for that too.

Edit: hats off to Cody for an awesome thread. Would be sweet to support Alpenglow or Granite Chief

If only there were more needlessly delayed Olympic skiing events on NBC, perhaps I could win Best Original Screenplay? On the other hand it's finally snowing so pretty sure my focus is shot now.

Guessing Tahoe Sports Hub or Alpenglow... you could probably put together a decent pre-order just for the Tahoe / bay area alone without shipping (there's a good number of us in this thread). Not to leave out other locations, just saying...

I'm working on the rest of the details but here's something concrete:

March 31 will be the final day to pre-pay a deposit

Start a new thread for it and post a link in the Tahoe thread for sure. TMS is the place by Safeway, right?

Added my name to the list, plus will be living in the Bay Area by August and I presume these wouldn't ship any earlier than that.

I think August would be optimistic, so you're safe. That said this isn't intended to be strictly Tahoe -- TMS will ship

So...early opinions on if this design is future of touring bindings? Will frame touring bindings a la Duke a dying breed?
