Which resort to take girlfriend to?
I'm working on a plot to convince my Mrs that she actually loves snow trips, so I'm looking for suggestions for a resort to take her to.
It's a long term play. I figure I'll cough up for some nice accommodation a good village, somewhere with some atmosphere, restaurants, log fires, hot tubs etc, and spend the days actually skiing with her.
I figure if I suck it up for this trip, then maybe it'll be easier to convince her to take a ski trip instead of a cruise ship next time....
Somewhere accessible from the east coast would be good too, as it might only be a 4 night trip. She's an intermediate snowboarder.
The 2 I'm tossing up at the moment are Breckenridge & Park City. I've never been to either though, and am open to any other suggestions too.
Cheers y'all!

Either of those resorts will be a lot of fun for an intermediate snowboarder. But that's a long flight (plus a potentially long drive,Breck is 2 to 4 hours from DIA, depending on conditions) from the right coast for a 4-night trip. Park City is much closer to the airport, but, just my opinion, the town of Breck is cooler than PC. But with flight and drive time, you still might be better off looking at the NE unless you can spend a week.
But, if you are willing to rent a car and do a 2-hour drive, you could think about Taos (2.5 hours from Albuquerque), which is a cool little town (and uniquely New Mexican, different from almost any other place in the US), a cool little resort village, and an awesome mountain. All of the Tahoe resorts are within a reasonable drive of Sacramento, and even closer to Reno (and Lake Tahoe has a visual beauty that is notable even here in the West where we get spoiled by scenery). S. Lake Tahoe has real casinos (better than the cruise ships, IMO), which also means shows, day spas, restaurants, etc. Depends on what you think she'll be into."Judge me by the enemies I have made." -FDR

Whatever you do don't take your girlfriend and your Mrs to the same resort, and definitely not at the same time. I think Breckenridge and Park City are both excellent choices, although I've never been to either one.

Alta and Deer Valley would also be excellent choices.

I did a CO ski trip with my boyfriend last year. We went to most of the resorts on the Epic Pass and my favorite was Breckenridge by far! (At the time, was intermediate skier)

Need to know when you are planning on going. Spring time or winter time... winter time with snow covered walkways are cool. When not covered in snow it looks dirty. I never been to but Lake Tahoe in spring time looks great. I think there is a French Canadian ski resort in east coast that has fake castle in base area... I bet she will like that one.

Park City or Breck are good choices. If you like the green the choice is obvious. If you don't care, I'd pick Park City. YMMV

Breckenridge is high as shit. Has she ever experienced altitude? Id go with Utah if you are good with their vice restrictions. Lower, warmer than CO, close to airport, almost assured good snow, etc.

What, no mention of Sun Valley? An idyllic little town in Ketchum, almost always good weather. Charming vibe and all the snow making you can handle. And... groomers all day long. Perfect for you and your lady.
