For the Brills this may be a blessing in disguise. I remember an article on them in a Denver newspaper (I think Denver) and Aaron was quoted saying that he didn't think he would do it all over again if given the choice. Maybe this will be a reason to call it quits and move on to new adventures? I imagine that after 15-20 years of running a small ski operation that is probably not very profitable you might see that said ski area like a ball and chain or prison sentence. Maybe not?

Would insurance kick in and they survive? Timeline for litigation settlement? Will they be open next year? I though I remembered reading that they only had limited self guiding days available, anyone know off the top of their head when these are?

Read that the other day. Good article but way too much hyperbole.

It would be crazy if they were to go under seeing all the work they put in, especially when you consider they could've fixed the ramp with a few hundred dollars in supplies available at any hardware store that would take a day or less of manual labor.

FWIW: I know him personally, he is very sharp and driven and his qualifications in this area are solid.

My point was that someone was painting a picture of the Brills not being able to keep up with operations anymore and I pointed out that they hired your buddy to run the show over a year ago. Not saying that he's not capable, probably much more capable than the Brills.

It's not a job I would want either, however it's my understanding that he has a relationship (and shared level of trust) with the Brill's that makes it possible.

You guys are pussies. That's not that bad. It offloads directly at an uphill wall of snow and the chair runs slow as fuck. I've always seen a lift op working the top and standing on the platform to the left. I've seen offload ramps at Mt Baker that are steeper and worse than that. Sure, maybe it's not a Vail style lift where it comes to a goddamned stop before you gently stand up and scoot away. But it's not that that fucking hairy.

This place is getting soft.

What he said. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary about offloading when I was there last season. They did advise us to take our packs off our backs and carry them on the lift.
