How to stop people from poaching private singletrack?
Fuck off bro, it’s not that I give a shit about people riding bikes. It is the complete disrespect of the people and families that use the trails and the disregard for safety of people who might be jogging, walking, etc along these trails that should be private. And it’s the fact that the eventual misuse of the trails will lead to additional costs for the neighborhood and the people living in it. Are you really on the side of the blatant trespassers ?

There is a specific group of 8 or 9 riders that comes through the trails regularly off of the public trail and absolutely flies through the trail and then leaves through the other exit onto the public trail. They are clearly just using the trails to add mileage as I have never seen them around and about the actual neighborhood.
If you read my original post I also talked about how a couple of guys openly told me they poached the trails and our pool.
Another time when I was stopped for water a guy came up and asked me for directions and if I knew how to get back out on the main trail because he didn’t live in this area.
It’s not exactly rocket science to figure out who is poaching, especially since I regularly see some of my neighbors at the trailhead and on the trails. Figuring out if someone is poaching isn’t that hard

Now we witness how mom&pop ski hills became unaffordable to their primary original user group.

TGR was founded on poaching and breaking stupid fucking rules.
This thread sucks. Take it to AZ or MTBR where pussies get their panties in a bunch over shit like this.

Bahahaha, this was some great coffee reading, found all that on strava and everything.
Good luck, no chance keeping people off now that they've found it. Any easy connection of trail makes it way too easy to get people in there.

Get off my lawn!!!!! and stay away from my pool!!!!
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

From the way I understand it in all 6 New England states unless a piece of land/trail is specifically posted closed to public use it's open. It goes back to old English law and right to roam like current day Scotland. It's exactly the opposite when you cross the line into NY where it's assumed that a piece of land is closed unless posted as open to public use. It does get murky when property boundaries aren't posted though and I've run afoul of that several times and been escorted out (once at gunpoint) while carrying my bike on my shoulder. The penalties for trespassing are pretty harsh in many places in New England if it's posted closed up to and including property confiscation in many cases so they can call law enforcement and have you fined for trespassing or confiscate your bike on the spot and make you walk out. I don't hear of these things happening often but it's not unheard of.

Interesting. Yeah, if it's not posted it's open game around here for sure. Technically to hunt you have to have written permission from the landowner no matter what. That hardly ever happens, but we're prepared to use that line if a hunter ever gives us shit for riding where they're hunting.

Ride it while you can before some masshole throws another bulldozer on it and makes it tracts for McMansions.

Wildlife cameras and/or fake wildlife cameras with warning signs near dangerous sections.
Will not keep poachers out, but will let them know that if they ride irresponsibly, then there will be video evidence.
They keep riding and families should be safer.

Don't you guys have crazy HOA fees ($300+/month) over there? Get your HOA board to spend some $$ and deal with it. You don't have to drop what KC does on rangers ($75k+/year), just hire a seasonal plus some signage and/or gates.
