They must have some pretty compelling evidence against Lauer because they sure acted quickly.

He made 25 mm per yr. if they don’t pay him off like Oreilly this is going to get nasty. He will never work again, and they fired him over night.

My thoughts exactly. If they weren't really sure that he'd done bad stuff repeatedly, they would not have fired him (suspended, maybe).

It doesn't seem that surprising to me. I remember numerous interviews with former co-workers and co-hosts over the past decade and almost everyone to person repeatedly commented on his lude/raunchy sense of humor. I think it was Ann Curry who said it was the one thing most viewers would never guess about him.

He was definitely guilty of coming off like a bit of a weirdo or creep during some interviews. Trying to push him into the role of "journalist" instead of "day time talk show host" during the last Presidential campaign was a mistake.

Also: holy fuck, 25MM per year for that asshole?

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Not if his investments do well. Then he'll only have milfs to bang and money to count.

You couldn't pay me 25 mil to stand out in Rock Center with Roker and some other assholes with 100 dorks from Iowa and Indiana standing behind me holding signs and cheering while I try to look cheerful filling time with banality until the next commercial break.

Apparently the NYT has been investigating him for months.

Much like the Charlie Rose on air eulogy, you’d have thought that he died this morning.

At least he went out doing what he loved.
