OP I am curious what you think of my post above bc you responded to almost everyone else except me and I think this is possibly the most logical way to think about this situation.

Sure there are times when it's nobody's fault. but in this case it seems that you had the opportunity to avoid her and bail into the trees.
If you were not going fast enough to think you were going to hurt her then you should have been able to bail into trees and not worry about getting too hurt either

I get thaat you were just trying to tell a funny story but when you do, you open yourself up to the readers opinions since this is a chat room

skip Vail. Beaver Creek, Breck, A Basin, Copper, Keystone all within a drive from Vail. If you've already done the back bowls of Vail , you're not missing anything.
Go to Aspen before Vail, seriously. fuck that place

BB you are cutting this idiot way too much slack. I have worked on too many collisions including one with a single fatality and the other person never being whole again (TBI and loss of motor function in one leg).

It is pretty simple, the downhill person has all the rights and the uphill traffic is obligated to slow down and avoid.

I’ve been to all those places.

We are heading to Vail mainly for one our friends who’d never been out west.
We are hitting Keystone, Breck, A Basin and Vail.
We’ll be staying at Vail just because it’s easier.

Trust me, I much rather stay in Jackson for two weeks.

This all the way and head a swivelin' in high-congestion areas....and a reasonable speed for the area. If sliders are slee-stacking and traversing across the slope, pull up and channel your inner Ryan Knapton and wait, all the while filming some beater-action.

Beaver creek and high alpine at Breck is dope. Plus we have a Basin. And back bowls at vail can be good.

Didn’t you only ski 1 or 2 mountains out here before getting kicked out?

    Still better than skiing Minnesota

try rolling up on a cop and tell him he's driving like a jackass. same idea. Instructors think they're the shit.
I find patrollers to be much more chill, but there's plenny of pricks, too

ya breck high alpine is pretty sweet

ya my trip was ruined by shittyy copper mountain and had impact on my skiing at abasin and breck...

a real perversion of the sport by copper patrollers and their lazy bomb schedule

i dont know that bailing into the woods is the answer

maybe increase your skier ability before increasing your speed

Ski or ride in control at all times and expect to find swerving jongs on traverses. I try to maintain a lane while descending that gives anyone overtaking me a place to pass. I love skiers/riders who do the same. Good people out today, only trouble was a sweat pants wearing wide stance pizza w/arms flailing goober who would randomly turn 90` and whip across the trail to burn off speed, skier he was[well trying to]. Briefly saw him 3 times and quickly passed him when he veered.
