Sounds like Blister was much more impressed by the 192 M-free 108: https://blisterreview.com/podcasts/b...time-on-ep-137

I am considering the 192 as my alps daily driver, although it could be too much ski for me at 160 lbs.

Spent about a week's worth on the LP's now, in all types of conditions except blower. They are so much easier to ski than the xxls. They handle shitty conditions so much better. I've never enjoyed wind affected snow, but these make it acceptable. Probably the rocker which makes them handle it well? Corn conditions where it's getting too soft, they just plane over everything with enough speed. Confidence inspiring, rail on groomers, but can slarve when feeling lazy. Enough tail on them so you can backseat a bit and just kick out the heels. I think that's the main difference: same damp characteristics as the old xxls, just slightly more forgiving due to the Rocker and more pronounced Sidecut. They are a blast.

Oh boy...my XXL’s are one of the few skis I have ever regretted selling. I remind myself that they had a crazy turn radius and were a handful when I got lazy any time I see a used pair pop up. Your comparison to the M-Pro Prorider 105 Pro (LP105) are valuable insights.

    I’m assuming you mean 194 XXL vs 192 M-Pro 105?

Also, what are your skier stats for reference (height and weight)?

Yep 194 xxls last season's LP 105s. I'm not sure if it's the actual width difference, because that's what? 4mm effectively? Or the rocker/Sidecut, but they feel a lot more nimble than the xxls. More so than I thought when first riding them. I haven't been on the xxls since, but I think they managed to keep the burlyness and added manoeuvrability. Construction/design made a huge jump between the two models though, so ist hard to compare directly.lllp
Skier stats hehehe aren't much to look at ~193 cm 120kg Euroland denomination and no racing background or anything fancy = overweight and barley in shape is my motto.

Edit: I just compared the two on paper
    XXL 194cm 132-109-122 radius 41m
    LP 192cm 132-105-122 radius 27m
I haven't done an actual straight pull, I think someone did earlier in the thread. The Sidecut is virtually the same 4mm isn't noticeable at least for me, so it has to be rocker / taper. The old tips are just fucking bulldozers

Only 2 days but the 182 MF108 (5'8", 140#s) is really fucking excellent - instantly clicked with it. Had it in pow, weird crud, wet new snow/slush, some hardpack: the usual early spring Alpental variety pack. They give just enough with out ever folding and have a huge sweet spot. They don't pivot like a metal 183 Katana, but are way easier to just work around tight spots.

I completely agree with McDee on the LP105 v XXL comparison, except for the mini-me sizes. 184cm v 186cm if I'm remembering correctly.

It had been a while since I had been on a LPR, so I picked up a pair from ZomblibulaX last Fall. Today was mid 50’s, sunny, and slushy so I brought them out. Excellent ski to mob down that stuff. So fun!

Race ski question for any long time Dynastar peeps.

Got a line on some née junior Gs skis, circa 2017. Big difference between current? Dimensions seem identical.

I think they changed the plates over the past few years so check which bindings are compatible.

Per Jr GS: What length? They should be identical to current, same sidecut progression working up to 30m. The 165 might have had the R21 plate that year, IIRC, would have the R20 now. 172& up will be R21. Same binding compatibility so no worries there.

Not enough difference for a U16 to notice, in other words.

What brake width are people tossing on the MFree 108s? I've got a pair of Look Pivots with a 115 brake and have access to a pair of 95mm as well. I was leaning the 115 but wasn't sure if the 95 would be a better call.

    Rossi/Look plates

If you see any 151's, I'm the hunt for 1 more pair for the Comish twins.

From talking to the Rossi/Dynastar Race rep, they are basically the same. The plates are what have changed.

I ran into a problem for 1 of the Comish twins with an '18 158cm for Super G, that her boots were like 3mm too small. Apparently the latest plates accept small boots. Sorry, not much use otherwise. I don't think it's worth worrying about for that age. I will say I have 2 slalom skis that are hardly used in the process of delaminating. 1 ski has 4 runs on them. Call me unimpressed by the quality of the junior race skis... Rossi Warranty won't return calls either.

that's what I figured. Just need to wait for those rather than the 115s I have on hand

i used 115s on mine in spite of also having 95s on hand - works well too.

95s will need to be bent a bit to fit/work perfectly, so not a huge difference in protrusion in ski mode when everything is said and done.

So I would just run the 115s you have and not think about it - it is going to be fine

I had my LP Mythic Riders out today. They rail on firm groomers and are the perfect ski for Bogus in general. If there is no new snow, these are the skis I have been grabbing for over 10 years now. I wonder what the modern equivalent is.
I was also rocking the pole straps as I have done for over 40 years, even in the pow in the trees!

Don't bring that energy into this thread too. Still hoping that other thread will die.

No bad energy here, just being a smartaleck. I think that other thread is lame too.
