There is no metal in the 106. Confirmed by rep, and further confirmed by no metal in shavings when drilling. 96 has metal plate underfoot. 88 has full length metal.

They need an X106 pro - 192 length, 27m radius, x88 flex and layup, keep the 106 rocker.

I asked this same question a few posts ago without any luck. The slicer is a beefy ski and the shape does look interesting.

Ask same question over at newschoolers and you'd have some replies I'm sure. 98mm tip/tail rocker full twin.

As for the x106. Metal? Not for me. A slightly (slightly people, not a lot) softer, rounder flex; half the camber and 15% heavier. Otherwise exact same shape and profile.

Honestly, if they made that ski, they'd have taken over the world. My world in the 10x slot in the quiver anyway.

The Slicer will not die. I think it may be the longest running mold in Dynastars line up or any ski companies for that matter (mogul skis don't count).
It is a great do everything all round ski. If you ski it balanced (not a lot of fore and aft motion) and drive the edges laterally you can get GS ski like edgehold/turning. It gets on plane fast in pow. Works good in bumps etc. Only drawback is the limited lengths available IMHO.

Bummed they canned the 188 length. 181 seems a tad short for me to use it as an all mountain ski.

When I worked for them I campaigned for a 19x Slicer, no joy. Of course I also was a vocal proponent of the Pivot 15 among other things so maybe why I don't work for them anymore?

I'm all in favour of 19x anything...but can we be done with twins already?
Buurlapz proved you don't need a twintip to ski backwards.
I think we can all agree skiing behind someone on twins is one of the worst parts of skiing.

My twintips (because people are always behind me and I'm a nice guy):

When the ProRiders came my way serendipitously I just couldn't say no, but I am prepared to have my arse kicked. We shall see.

Wish I could contribute with wise words or even a shitty 1 day review, but it'll be many months before they'll see snow.

Well well well, I finally got on the Pro Riders yesterday, and I was not disappointed. At all.

Craigieburn was smooth but near boilerplate at first, with a light dusting on top in the chutes. While I couldn’t give it 100%, they still let me ski pretty damn fast.

After an hour, the chutes (~40 degrees) were near perfect, and 192 and all that camber didn’t feel the least bit cumbersome. Not overgunned at all. Spent 5 hours going faster and faster, and just felt super confident.

Will be back in two weeks for more.

Btw, skied my Monster 98s the days before, and they weren’t bad either

    Yup, they truck.
I went pretty bloody fast at the end of the day, but didn’t even feel close to their limit.

I've yet to find out one. They do have a minimum speed however.

Under statement of the century for LP105/Pro Riders. Faster is always better, always and forever with Pro Riders. I did sell mine cause I just didn’t mesh 100% with them, and I kept grabbing something else.

I did have a blast of a day following the ex around Park City on them. Those tight trees up off that double chair were scary and fun on the Pro Riders.

They were fun in Jackson too, I just spend too much time hiking to make carrying them worth while. When they were good in bounds, I’d rather be on my Praxis Super Freerides, Shiros or MX98s, and when they would be great out of bounds, I’d rather carry the Praxis Super Freerides, 193 Shiros or 202 Rangers. I kept grabbing other skis and figured I should let someone else play with them.

After skiing the x106, new Cochise, and a few other similar skis, I feel the ski industry got the Pro Rider right when it was the LP105, but since then, they have been passed by. I have an aggressive hardtail mountain bike that was the cream of the crop 10 years ago, and its fun in certain situations, but its a 3 generation old design and just doesn’t cut it any more. That’s how I feel about the Pro Rider compared to new skis of the same waist width.

Has anyone spent a decent amount of time on the X88? Looking to replace my MX88's with the 186.

They have closest feel to old school Dynastar of the entire Legend X lineup. I like them a lot. Lots of camber and metal.

Two thumbs up. I got on mine this year for probably 20 days. Real solid in crud, rail well, relatively short radius with excellent edge to edge response; nice rebound.
