I thought a fitting end to charlie would be to not start a thread about him.

But here we are. So we are talking about a man who died in prison for 1st degree murder, not not for killing anyone, but convincing others to kill?

The truth is always somewhere in between.

Charles Milles Manson (born Charles Milles Maddox, November 12, 1934 – November 19, 2017) was an American criminal and cult leader who formed what became known as the Manson Family, a quasi-commune in California in the late 1960s. Manson's followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. In 1971 he was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, all of which were carried out at his instruction by members of the group. Manson was also convicted of first-degree murder for two other deaths.

I'm just here to mention that the real Midnight Express dude is the brother of a good friend. I've met him. Carry on.

Uh, well, there's a lot of implicit trust built in to the mere act of participating at any level in our society. So, no. Sadly a minority of voters selected a goon who is hell-bent on destroying as much of that as he can get his grubby little hands on.

Also had a Beach Boy connection. And some think he/they murdered Bobby Fuller, the guy who had a big hit with I Fought The Law.

    PRECISELY!!!

I'm never sure how to take people with Glademaster's point of view, and I've met many like him. I tend to think what kind of a fucked up childhood gave him that mindset. Abusive father/grandfather/brother? Sad, at any rate.

Just remembered that there's a quick connection between the Family and Neil Young. Just a short thing, have to go back and look it up, it's in Shakey.

AR--may I respectfully suggest that you delete this thread. Best thing we can do about Charles Manson is forget he ever existed. One should not of course forget there is evil in the world but there are always fresh examples to keep reminding us, and then there's always Hitler.

And Stalin, Mussolini, Mao and Pol Pot et al. Of course let's not forget Whitman, Speck, Kemper, Bundy and the rest of the sociopathic killers. Manson was just a very highly publicized case, can't muster the energy to give a shit about any of them, let alone hate them. There has been and always will be weirdoes in the world, we need to keep that in mind.

Well, yeah, isn't that why we have the Padded Room?
    Daniel Ortega eats here.
