HA HA!!! No way, not at all. Gawd, now I feel like a turd! I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I was merely speaking to the settlement/damages aspect of the situation. I'll go back to my corner. Sitting in meetings in San Diego hoping it's snowing there back home.

you really seem to enjoy making presumptions about other people to validate your opinion. No where in the articles I read was the boys age given.

throwing in a big number for punitive damages is a scare tactic--since punitive damages aren't covered by insurance. This will settle for a lot less then 129K IMO as a TV trained lawyer (and as someone who's been sued).

Bachelor failed Risk Management 101 on this. Obviously management at the resort should have handled better at the time, and failing that corporate should have been all over the family trying to make it right. They had the opportunity to make the family feel better about Mt Bachelor than they did before the incident and blew it.

Yep. Bad PR and attorneys fees will drive a mid- to upper-five figure settlement, IMO.

And there is the problem. Remember when they forgot to pay the rent @ PCMR. Just another fail for Powdr Corp. management.

In the tradition of bumping a train wreck, is anyone down for a Bachelor specific conditions and meet up thread?

It’s been soft, starting to barely fill in, bad visibility and high wind on and off but mostly on.

Lots of folks getting after it! Who’s been up and who’s planning on coming?

^^^ @lowsparkco, There’s only like five MtB locals posting here. Would get pretty boring, even with Tap’s photo work

I hear you are skiing with some Cranky Old Fucks(tm) tomorrow?

If this goes away I won’t be too bothered. But, traffic has been pretty slow on the TGRs so who knows? Hopefully it will inspire me to take a few photos myself.

No word on how this suit ended or if it has ended, although I will certainly inquire on the dl.

I’m in and out this week, but I’m going to try my best and will definitely meet up more as we get past Xmas.

I just get some Meadows resentment in the Orygun thread. I’ve only been up there once and it was heavenly.

Apologies are cheap. Any GM with a lick of sense would have at least given the kid a free season pass for the following year and almost certainly the problem would have gone away.

Gottlieb contacted Gear Peddler and the store took a photo of their records documenting the sale of the skis from Mt. Bachelor to Gear Peddler, but Mt. Bachelor employees refused to view the picture or speak to Gear Peddler employees on the phone, according to the suit.
The allegation that the employees steadfastedly refused to even look at potentially relevant documentation is interesting.

I wonder which former shop employee stole the skis and sold them to the used gear shop?

I remember it every single day I ski at what was a friendly resort and now is a pay to park, pay 3x as much for a piece of pizza, watch out for the yellow jackets resort. Wish the dumb bitch hadn’t left the bill in the stack on her desk for three weeks. Wish we still had the failings of Powder over Vail.

    ^^^^^

True story. Vail has damn near ruined the town.

    My best yellow jacket story.

I was getting on payday and slipped into the gate next to the heel side of a yellow jacket. We get to load and he sits on my lap. Loses his fucking mind. Screaming at me for being a line skipping douche etc…ski patrol and the lifty escorted him out of line and asked for his jacket to the applause of the assembled locals.

    Fuck vail

I’ve worked for a few ski corporations and it’s certainly relative.

Pretty good interview of John Cummings founder of Powdr….
