Roaring Fork - Aspen Snowmass This side of the Elks Stoke 17-18

Well, it's almost that time of year...

The pass is thin and probably won't re-open after this storm... but it's sliding on snow, amiright?!

Got up there on Saturday. Thin, but wonderful to be sliding on snow again. Off to the beach for a week, then the real fun begins!

Well done! I think I just went for my last bike ride of the season 2 days ago. Glass/Buck still riding well. Hoping this storm pans out.

Well, 2" came and went on the snow stake at Elk Camp, but that's supposed to be right at the snow line for this storm until the front moves through at least. We'll skin up tomorrow or Sunday if it looks worth it. Above Gwynn's usually has 2x what the village has, and with the higher freezing line that could be 4x.

Do you have a little one in there?

I’ve been riding the Fatty up on Snowmass. Untracked DH trails are fun!

    Congrats!

We haven’t skied in a while, but we need to change that.

Is Wednesday ski club day or is Thursday the 1st day?

See everyone up there and have a safe season!

I went up Sat/Sun for a few laps each day, the skiing was actually better than expected. Spar was very grippy and fun while the sun was on it.

Heading out for a few turns this afternoon. Dusted off some old Rossi B2’s for the gravel conditions.

Maybe i should have stayed at the beach for another week? Or i should tag along with my wife up to the PNW and ski the pow this weekend!

Roaring Fork - Aspen Snowmass This side of the Elks Stoke 17-18

Lots of people playing golf yesterday.

I thought the little bit of terrain available is skiing decent - just got to watch for rocks and dirt everywhere. Spar is fun on ol’ skinny carvy skis when it’s wide open and empty. Certainly wouldn’t travel or buy day tickets to ski it though.

No way in hell highlands is opening on the 9th though is there?

I think Highlands will be delayed to at least a week if not 2.

The new snow and cold temps helped a ton!
With nothing in the forecast, tomorrow might be the best day for a while.
