Tye 1on is higher up the food chain. if you want a description of his role you'd have to ask him, I'm not sure how formal any of this really is. and as he said in this very thread, he made that call.

This reminds me of a thing that happened when I was taking college classes as a 32 year old surrounded by children.

A well-intentioned, but stubborn and dense young woman took a position in a group discussion that it was incredibly sad when women stay home raising kids instead of pursuing a career. I made the point that it could be sad, if she were forced into it by society or by a man or whatever...in other words if she wanted out but was trapped....but for many women, a few ex-gfs included, the prospect of being a homemaker and not having to work and raise kids both is actually an aspiration.
Because it was me saying this, 6'3" barbarian-looking me, and not some middle-aged grandmotherly wise old woman; this spiraled quickly into attacks on me, angry emotional accusations of misogyny...etc. I defended my position well and thoughtfully for some time, including offering to call my ex-gf on speakerphone and ask her if I'd misrepresented her POV, and notably at one point a fake "white knight" made a horseshit show of trying to dress me down in front of some hot girl he was evidently dating. ..

Anyway, the key element there was that these young aggrofeminist girls couldn't conceive of women who don't share their values, don't share their disgust at traditional femininity and don't share their vague sense of constant victimhood, and indeed would rather stay at home raising kids.
Similarly, in this case, we have a few posters who can't conceive of women who like having their naughty pictures taken and think it's hot when men check them out. So, in their view there's no possible way any of this could be above board, it's just a bunch of horrible men victimizing innocent women. In their view this is about stalking unsuspecting women for masturbation, and nothing else. In their view, it can't be anything else, because all women must be like them, and they would never allow such a thing.

It is now all just denouement, waiting to see where the final lines will be drawn, where will TGR's virtual Berlin Wall be placed (or will it be a Trump Border Wall, overpriced, leaky, badly designed, built by the lowest bidder, laughed at by those on the other side, and ultimately bankrupting its sponsors?). I'm curious whether we'll see bands of intrepid rebels, sneaking over, under and around the enemy lines in the weeks and years to come, creating virtual underground railroads to sneak posters in and out of the PR, evading the watchful eyes of the overlords, and engaging in strategic sabotage. Oh, brave new world the PR will be.

Should we begin writing epitaphs, or is it too soon?

I'm not offended by any of it. What I don't like is the recent very aggressive response by some juvenile frat boy males towards a woman who dared have a [relentless] opinion. I didn't know that hate was there behind all that porn posting. Or never paid enough attention to know. Now I see it, I'll call it for what I see: another small stitch in our culture of demeaning great women in this world, and excluding them. If these cavemen thrive here on TGR, then that is bad for some random female somewhere else in their path. And I don't like that. If I now keep coming back, then yeah, you could argue your point.

You're using mtngrl as a proxy for widespread forum misogyny and that's incorrect. TGR is a brobrah forum but most posters seem to love women, naked or otherwise. Everyone has a mother and lots of posters have wives, sisters, and daughters. Look to the awesome wife thread. Look to how KQ's or klar's posts are received. mtngrl is caustic and the response is partly carryover from her notorious history. She is not being singled out because she is a woman.

To answer your questions - I'm here for the only English speaking international skiers online community there is. I'm a skier. It is almost all I do, all year round. Not just the weekends. I like many of the skiers here. I like talking skis and skiing with them. I like tech talk. I like knowing that they dig it too. Where else is a skier gunna go to kill time?
