You and others seem to think there is management that has their fingers on the pulse of the forum, and when MAJOR ISSUES are raised by the inmates, that management jumps to it and discusses it and if they haven't acted within 48 hours, well by god that is their answer! Fuck, my clients don't expect an answer to complicated questions* (or any questions) on that kind of timeline yet you, some guy who posts on a forum for free, thinks you're entitled to a response lickety split.

Some of the same folks who act all self-righteous about "pervs" like Weinstein are all upset that they are being called out on creating an environment that encourages exactly the same behavior. And it is not pretty.

How many of you are willing to show the full constellation of threads (and images) in question to your spouse, SO, mom, dad, kid, boss, or grandparent for an opinion on the debate? Or if you are in the industry - your brand manager... Maybe post up your faves on your Instagram feed so everyone can appreciate your taste in "art" and you appreciation for the human form? Didn't think so...

And that's not even getting into the legalities of consent, copyright, kiddie porn, etc.

Re: some of the above, as Danno says, a MAJOR misconception is that even mods read all of this stuff... and afaik nobody who gets a paycheck from TGR reads the forums even occasionally. As far as I know, there is a programmer (one guy) who is responsible for the tetongravity.com website and by extension the forums in a "if there is a bug in vbulletin it shows up in a ticket list somewhere" sense.

There are a handful of mods - myself, Danno, flowing alpy, splat, ml242, Tye 1on, and maybe a couple more whose usernames I genuinely do not know. Speaking personally, I read GS, TT and the general ski forum semi-regularly. I read Padded Poom occasionally. I'm not sure what others are doing... a lot of my forum time is on the "participated" tab in tapatalk. The mandate when whoever it was gave us mod power was "delete spam posts" because at the time there were a lot of them. So that's 99.999% of what I do. VERY occasionally move a thread, usually after some consensus from other mods, since the bitch-and-moan-fest that happens anytime ANYTHING is moderated gets to be a bit old after a while. VERY occasionally delete some exceedingly over-the-top image like mutilated bodies etc. Occasionally obvious aliases which are created to circumvent an administrative action are banned (they violate one of the very few Roolz), usually < 10 post accounts created that day for purpose of trolling / etc., Damian made a bunch of them for example.

Damian got reported a lot, so I ended up reading a lot of his stuff (all of the mods did), and were a bit more appraised of the situation. BUT the people who own this website 1) don't want to spend a bunch of their time/energy/thought on a thing that generates negligible revenue AND is a depraved sinkhole of idiocy, white-knighting, grandstanding and bitchfestery and 2) would prefer it be generally unmoderated. So... you know at some point, you can just stop using a website.

We'll see what the people with actual money in the game have to say. It could easily be "having a forum is not worth this hassle" for all I know. That's no threat or anything, just the reality.

I think people are more reacting to the feeling that de facto what MG is pushing for (whether she realized the implications or not) is banning all nudity and possibly other "inappropriate" content. It used to be, with a few exceptions, a pack of rowdy boys getting after it skiing, drinking, smoking, and looking at nudes. What drew a lot of us or kept us here was the relatively un-moderated wild west feel of it. If the net effect of this whole thing is that TGR is forced to take a more clean cut stance then that will be lost.

Is it a big deal in the broader context of life? No. Its not important. But if she and her SJW clan gets their way with this, mark my words she'll be coming hard for something else to be banned tomorrow.

Yeah, the lunatics in the asylum think THEY are the customers, when in facts it's the insurers and loved ones who pay the bills who are the customers. Except in this case, it's the advertisers. Also, people tend not to realize that folks activley using the forums, and especially the PR are far less relevant than the many, many, many more who are viewing videos and articles (and ads).
