How is property like that in CT only 2.7? If I was in the position to spend that kind of coin that seems like a really good value
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Seems pretty cheap. It's pretty far for daily NYC commute but plenty of people do it. I would think it would be in demand with that setting because of covid stuff .

This place half a country away sold a few months ago. Smaller scale but lots of similarities even within MCMs.

That rock wall is a deal breaker for me. Thermal mass, not just to look at I assume but they could have done a much better job with nicer rock.

If budget wasn't an issue I would go stone and slate with a bunch of glass worked in.

I don't get that 90M place. All that money and you have to share a gym and pool with the savages in the 20M places. 8000sf and there's not much to it somehow.

Neither do I; I don't understand why anyone would want to spend that kind of coin to compete with all those other assholes. Similarly for ski areas.

It's for Russian oligarchs to park money.

Yeah, I did some work in a PH near the top of the Time Warner building, real nice views but worth 100 mil +/-? I couldn't see it, but not like it's something I can contemplate.

But when you get a million or so amassed, the thought might still occur: why do the same thing everyone else is doing?

I’m late to this thread, but Grand Designs is the best or at least most addictive house show I’ve seen. I love the crazy London people who spend 1M GBP for a small falling down industrial lot on the far side of town. A few miraculously pull off modest, tasteful homes on a budget.

Kurisu is a local landscaping firm. The founder worked on the Portland Japanese Garden in the 1970s or thereabouts; apparently since then they started building Bond villain hideouts.

I agree- I like just about everything else there, but the rock is truly terrible

craft is a thing that americans do not prize unfortunately
it seems to be a thing in japan & germany, tho both places have their share of crass cheap shit too

americans just want amenities, or at least that is what is marketed to the public

quality is so much harder to itemize

tho apparently the OR state pen has a nice space from kurisu...

Ha, I didn't know that. A friend of a friend worked at Kurisu for awhile, and I know they were focusing on institutional work, but mainly hospitals...didn't know they had gotten into corrections. Seems like a great idea to do a garden in a prison, especially if it could be tied to some opportunities for vocational training for inmates.

I followed a guy who built a home in St. John probably 15 years ago. It was nowhere near the scale of the home above and the logistics of materials and labor were less than ideal. Can only imagine that place was a giant PITA to build.

Looks a lot better than the view from your trailer in Black Brook, TrumpTrash®.
