Norseman, fantastic pics man. As much as I love to see people ski it's rad to see the wildflowers, arachnids, babbling brooks, etc. Thanks for that.

You've probably seen this already Norse but for others.
The #MiriamFire is approximately 3 miles SE of the ski area. This image was snapped by the USFS earlier today. Firefighters are doing an excellent job and all is calm at the ski area. US12 is open. We will update as more info becomes available.
Naches/White Pass Area: Miriam Fire Update- 7-30-18, 8:30 p.m.
A new wildfire was reported this morning at approximately 11am 30 miles west of Naches, WA.
The Miriam Fire is estimated to be 30 acres in size, burning in heavy timber at 5800 feet in elevation, and is highly visible from Highway 12 in the area.
Fire Resources include rapellers, 3 type two helicopters, and a 20 person handcrew responding on scene. Two large air tankers supported suppression efforts today with retardant drops.
The fire is approximately three miles from the White Pass Ski Area.
A Level 2 "Be Set" evacuation advisory has been put in place for White Pass Ski Area (7-30-18 2:30 p.m).
Naches Ranger District fire managers are working in coordination with Yakima and Lewis County Emergency Management Departments. For updates on evacuation advisories see: https://www.facebook.com/YakimaCountyOEM/
Closures: The Pacific Crest Trail is closed from White Pass to Tieton Pass with a reroute around on the Cowlitz Valley Ranger Distrct; the fire is within 1/4 mile of the PCT.
The Forest Service is considering additional trail closures.

Burn baby! ...(as long as the ski hill remains operational)
I dig burnskiing. Stevens and Mt Dweebus got their sweet burn zone sidecountry, and now White does, too. 3 for 5 on the W WA hills.

Photo album with captions for TR from last week:

Beta in brief:
- Adams SW Chutes nowhere near as bumpy as South Climb, but unfortunately that still means it's horrendous. (Never seen anything even remotely like that before in the SW Chutes, even in mid-August, or during the lousy 2015 at this same time of year.)
- Hood Zig Zag snowfield is still quite nice, with laps of up to ~2,700' vertical.
- Hood Palmer is of course its usual groomed self, and can ski down the Magic Mile's canyon to within something like a litle over 200' vertical to the parking lot, plus more importantly both staff and patrol seem to be utterly uninterested in enforcing the new blanket prohibition on in-bounds uphilling.

I'm late to the party, but excellent pics, Norseman! My favorite side of Tahoma.

While bringing myself up to speed on the massive SAR op going on in the Mountain Loop area, I learned one of my backcountry skiing friends died in a mountaineering accident north of Lake Wenatchee this weekend. We used to live less than a mile apart in Seattle and I'd bump into him all the time, both in the city and outdoors. Like most splitboarders, he was an oddball, but a really great touring partner who knew how to make you laugh when you needed it most. I can't imagine what his friends who were with him at the time of the accident are going through. It took three, different helicopter attempts and ~10 hours to recover his body after the group activated a PLB to request help. And that's with good weather
I hadn't been out and about with him as much lately but damn I'm gonna miss seeing him around.
