I may live in Nebraska but I know rain on snow does not create "basal facets. " also known as TG snow. Temperature gradient snow is somewhat suggestive of the process

I don't think anyone said that. Rain on snow will, sometimes, help the transition of facets in to rounds though.

    Happy now?
    Holy shit!

I wonder if they'll even be able to spin the lifts with that much snow.

It's kinda the norm here in the PNW to have this kinda weather. Some of the best seasons in memory didn't really pick up until mid to late December.

Hey I know I should post this in the gear subforum, but it is relevant to people in the greater Seattle area. I have a pair of relatively new HH ski pants (400-350 dollar pair before end of year sale when I picked them up) that are already having some threading come out producing holes on the inside of the pants. Is there a good place to take them to have them stitched up? I had a pair of 100 dollar burtons that never had this issue even years later. I can't afford new pants, especially when I'm trying to buy a new jacket for rainy weather (goretex?). Also do many of the local ski places actually do real deals on black friday for clothing?

My Memory is dog shit but I think you're on to something. I have very little memory of skiing before xmas in primo conditions.
Snow came a bit early and like Charlie Sheen with a free 8 ball, we all got excited.

The last really good season with consistent snowfall and late deep snowpack I remember was '11-'12, and I have pictures standing on bare ground at 7000' during the first week of December. We've had decent and normal seasons since then but that was the last really amazing season. I skied in Stemilt basin east of Mission Ridge on June 25th and was still able to keep skis on until the parking lot.

Fall Puget Sound regional flooding events typically portend lowland snow. Figure a couple weeks max after the flooding.

Apparently 7.67" of rain has fallen at Stevens since Monday. Needs another foot of snow to reopen.
