Fun Time with SupreChicken, Non-Mag Jeremy, and Bandit Jr today at Stevens. We had our own little Billy Goat reunion. Click image for larger version.

Planned a large day out in the Olympics but bailed due to weather. Picked the low hanging fruit instead in the familiar places for a casual day just shy of 5k.

Found great pow on the proper aspects and in the shadows of the trees. Morning sun got to the rest but everything skied pretty well. Good tree tour once the alpine became socked... from the high krummholz subalpine firs, which created an array of steep wind-formed gullies in their wakes awash with gravity-bound graupel, to the lower glades dominated by cedar. Finally found a certain skiable avenue I've been seeking for years.

When skiing the windy hill one must always be on the lookout for sharks.

Went shuffling around the lakes behind Silver Basin yesterday. Unfortunately it was pretty sun-crusty, but there was neat terrain to look at. Several large slides from earlier in the weekend, including this one on the north side of the ridge extending east from Sourdough Gap:

(damn autofocus going for the macro)

Also heard the loudest whoomph ever. Decided to head back to Silver where the crust was nonexistent.

West side waits for the plow while the east side sows their fields wishing they were slaying the pow?
