We should have seen this coming when he was referring to North Bend as "The Bend."

I'm hoping he has a whippet for the steeper pitches at central.

Blah blah blah, make fun, I am an easy target.

Other than 6 days of skiing in nc I've only skied here in the PNW since last march, so I suck at skiing. I'm trying to find an easier black to improve my skiing.

Beardmech, you're gonna need an airbag pack for Alpental.

I took the airbag out of my car and strapped it to my pack. That will work right?

I'll say this. Don't ride chair two at Alpy until you can easily ski any of the blacks at summit.

Maybe even don't bother going to Alpental until you can?

Nights aren't my cup o tea, except for Wednesdays @ West when it's been dumping since closing bell on Sunday and it hasn't warmed up in-between.

Alpy crew is stoked to have a bit of a break before the start of the holiday season. Unless things drastically change, they'll be on the clock every day from the 19th til the 8th of January

Literally anything other than Chair 2 at Alpental. If you are looking for groomer cruising, go to Crystal. Snoqualmie as a whole only has really short laps, and not much vertical if you take Chair 2 out of the equation. Its not a real great intermediate "resort". Its really good for beginners, and really good for folks who rip.

Dude, just explore. Go ride random lifts, dont look at maps and just ski where it looks interesting. You arent going to get good just pussyfooting around, and anything besides Chair 2 at alpental will not put you in over your head.

It would be nice if there was a groomed run as Id feel more confident turning down a steep run if it was a smooth surface, though I imagine there currently isn't one open like that. Basically what run do you guys recommend at Snoqualmie to kick my game up a notch?
Didn’t think there were any black runs at snoqualmie, but after checking the trail map I see there are! Just goes to show that ratings are only relative to other runs at the same ski area. Those black runs would be blues at most other places. Just pick any, and don’t be afraid to ski moguls - got to learn to some time, it’s part of skiing. Maybe take a lesson?

It pains me to say this, but Debbies is in good shape right now considering the conditions. Hit it in the morning before all the tilled snow gets scraped off of it. Longest groomer currently available in the pass... and also the best coverage.

Central Xpress, Silver Fir and Hyak triple are 1,000' vert

Really, Silver Fir is? seems shorter to me. Regardless, I dont really consider that a very long groomer at all. To each their own though.

Seriously go to Crystal for the nice groomed black diamonds.

Alpental doesn't really have groomed blacks.

You sound about he same level as my wife and she loves Crystal, hates Alpental.

1,000' was rough rounding. More precisely, Silver Fir and Central Xpress are both 930' vert. Hyak front side triple is 1100' vert. Alpy Chair 1 is 1260' vert.

It is (or it's close anyway), what makes it feel short is that most of the significant pitch happens on the first 1/4 of the run, then rolls pretty low angle the rest of the way to the base.

Crystal is a way better fit than Stevens. Pm PNWbrit if you go. He loves showing new guys the best action out there.

We've had yellow jacket speed patrol for a long while. I think they got new yellow jackets this year though.

And a couple of new overzealous recruits.
