So you guys think that every nude picture posted here was done so with permission?
Seriously?

That's probably not true.
What's probably also not true is that these women's lives are being ruined by a tgr thread.
Truths are likely somewhere in between....
Probably there are a few photos on tgr that shouldn't be posted.
Probably the women in them would be bummed, but not lives ruined.
The buildup of drama, conjecture, and hyperbole here seems unwarranted and probably counterproductive.Last edited by ill-advised strategy; 11-16-2017 at 07:04 PM. Reason: fixed quotey thingy to display quote in quote box

I can't spend the energy reading thru this what I can only guess is a horribly delivered msg- and the equally horrible responses but here's my take on it
I think it's odd that someone would post nudey pics without being enough of a man to be like "hey can I post this to a mostly anonymous board"
I bet a lot of the time the answer would be an affirmative
The problem is when you are no longer with that person and they can't ask you/ dont want to, whatever
it's creepy and weird and we all have been talked into taking pics. oh yea they're just for us, blah blah blah
It just has the potential to backfire and only really to the woman's downside.
Your boss/ brother/ someone you don't want to picture you naked and tied up, now basically can only picture you that way.
It's a small chance but not worth the downside to agree to document something super spicy. Be like the Natl Parks- take only memories....leave only footprints. ok not the footprint part
and ftr I am not ashamed of my body at all. If I didn't live in Wyoming I would most likely be a nudestskid luxury

But the enjoyment of the men here is more important than protecting the unwilling participants from the potential for the wrong person seeing the photo.
As for life ruined/bummed...
It would be more than bummed for me if someone took a nude picture of me that I didnt even know about and posted it online...
But here we go again, putting the enjoyment of men above the safety of women.

Real Talk:
If KQ or B-Bear had brought this up there would have been ZERO drama.
But since it's the MtnGirl everyone freaked because she is a jerk about it.
Kind of the same reaction when I post in gun threads."I don't pretend to have all the answers, and I think there's something to be said for that" -One For The Road

It's unclear what your stance on this is bbear...
First, the picture I took issue with looks like it was taken without knowledge. If that is the case, she couldn't "only leave footprints" because she didn't even know..
The second issue is that it was suggested she didn't know in the thread and laughed about. Nobody said a word. The community just proved it cannot self police.
Second, I will agree is probably not a good idea to allow people to take naked pictures of you (or take them yourself) if you don't want them shared, but it really sucks that you cannot expect partners and ex partners to have the integrity to honor their promises on that.
Wouldn't men rather women be comfortable sharing pictures because they know if they did share them people would be all over you for being an asshole?
It's criminal to peek through windows at women or set up spy cams or make peepholes to see naked women..
Isn't looking at pictures against their will pretty damn similar?
So where do you stand?Last edited by mtngirl79; 11-14-2017 at 10:27 AM.

BS. It's not a safety issue. If we're bending and stretching the edges of this, it's potentially the enjoyment of everyone who enjoys beauty: men, women, trans, and other. You've stressed the separation of sexuality and nudity...why over-emphasize the sexuality and under-emphasize the natural beauty of well-composed female nudes?
You never watched Slap Shot, but if you had, you'd recognize the most lecherous, gross character at one point has this exchange as the guys are all spellbound watching pretty women figure skate:
"you make me sick when you speak Maurice"
"This isn't art, this is sex"
and everyone is just exasperated while he laughs.
You're doing this too...the pretty photos of the pretty women...you're saying "this isn't art, this is sex!". How do you know? Why zero in on the grossest possible interpretation? This is why people are calling you out instead of calling the thread out....because your viewpoint of what's taking place is coming through a personal filter of assuming a bunch of worst case scenarios at once.
You have this scenario built-up that Jane is being secretly photographed nude and posted here without her knowing it, and all of her family and coworkers and a bunch of roving rapists are watching the thread and see Jane and start hounding her about it and firing her from her job and tracking her down and raping her. That seems like such unlikely nonsense to me....at each level...at the secret photo level, at the posting level, at the "everyone she knows viewing a tgr thread" level., at the tracking down and firing level... Are those things possible? I'm not saying they're impossible...but please get real about "safety".
If you want the pm community to come along with this, you have to get real. This is an online version of a ski town. People like to party in a ski town. If you were showing up at parties in Crested Butte telling all the women they're unsafe and calling the guys sexual predators, you'd get almost the exact same feedback you're getting here. Fine, join a nunnery. Same deal if some creeper is going around trying to catch women nude and sneak photos...fuck off guy. The in-between is that we're a bunch of normal skiers who like to have fun, and we want the norse god of snow to smash us with his snow.
We don't want you to feel threatened, we care about your mental health and the overall health and safety here, and recognize your concerns...but the perceived dichotomy you set up between recklessness and puritanism is BS...it's BS because it assumes the worst possible scenario is inevitable and commonplace, when in fact it's rare and avoidable.

Yeah, I hope she stays too, and learns to love us all with all our weirdness and faults, the way we more-or-less love her with all of hers.
Fuck man, it's the darkest part of the season, most of us aren't skiing yet and the summer rec is over. Everyone's pissy. Take a deep breath, there are no actual consequences as of yet...just a variety of butthurts. We'll all go ski together soon. There's a lot of love and camaraderie here, focus on the love and camaraderie.

all she ever focuses on here, in this place, is how we're a bunch of sexist assholes. I don't see any love and camaraderie from her.

This has nothing to do with my feeling about porn, nudity or sexuality or if I think porn should or should not exist anywhere and everywhere.
It is about consent and respect. It's about how a person feels when their privacy and trust has been violated. It's about the fact that once a nude picture is online, it's there to potentially haunt someone forever.
If a middle school kid found a teacher's nude pic here and spread it around the school would said teacher face negative consequences?
If someone's angry soon to be ex recognized someone...
If some jealous dude saw some other guy had pictures of some chick he knew..
The world really isn't that big and most of us live in or near ski towns and most of us know skiers and mountain bikers and climbers and the like.
It's not a huge stretch.

So you think 1300 dollars should have bought my silence?
You helped me so I sold my rights to opinions different from yours?
