Jimmy and John - Holy crap!

Did anybody catch that Jimmy Herring and John McLaughlin show last night? Holy shit! The first set was Jimmys Invisible Whip, the second was The 4th Dimension. The second half of the second set was both bands together doing a variety of Mahavishnu, Miles Davis and assorted other stuff and it was unfuckingbelievable. Two bassists, two keyboards, sometimes three, two and sometimes three drummers, John and Jimmy... Just fucking wow John on the double neck PRS (one of the last times ever because it's being auctioned), Etienne M'bappe on bass is mesmerizing and who knew that Jason Crosby could play violin like that. John and Jimmy trading licks and absolutely ripping together was a sight to behold. I can only imagine what it was like in the theater, I was bouncing around the living room for hours with the headphones on.

This is John McLaughlins last US tour so if you can get out to see one of these shows DO IT!
