I heard from friends in two different groups that there was a lot of avalanche activity in the northern greens today, both natural and skier triggered. Apparently someone took a ride but ended up not injured or buried thankfully, from the sound of it he was a very lucky man. Stay safe out there!
My stoke contribution from some dreamy lower angle glades. Everyone must have been clogging up the lifts because it was almost deserted out there.

Just read one of the reports, definitely a good reminder to be aware on the steeps. Per the first hand report 1'-2' slab that slid 1,300 vert and ended in a 4'-6' debris pile.

The trees at (near) Plattekill were skiing extremely well today. Surprising 4 days after the storm. The snow in the woods was super consistent and not danger of getting bogged down. Never hit bottom all day.
It seems the only real rule at Plattekill is follow Chris or Riley.
Did the Plattekill version of the "dip" all day long.

Thursday is the day. Less wind and all those snow showers should pile up by then. Already took the day off.

Had some Type II fun up on Agiocochook (Mt Washington) yesterday after a day at the Randolph glades with the BC festival. Definitely scary mid of travelers... Dad with ten year old asking if gulf of slides would be good, I think generally wasn't aware Avi reports exist. Strongly encouraged them (pretty please??) To just ski the trail. Up higher two dudes from Gloucester without any Avi gear wanted to center punch it up the main gully. Tried to encourage them against it but once they were set on it I had to bail. Felt a bit sick watching them carry on.
Ultimately ended up taking on some bushwhacking hell to stay in the thick trees and steep skintrack on a ridge to stay away from the dangerz. Plenty of windslab all over the place, some small cracks and propogation jumping on little loaded sections 38 degrees or steeper.
Found a flatter and tighter "line" with plenty of anchors. About a dozen fun turns then switch back to split board mode to go downhill with skins on through the schwack. Was chuckling as it was definitely a "skis are a better tool for this kind of 'skiing' day".
More snow this week! Bring it!!

Course participants from the Mt Washington Backcountry Ski Festival were not involved in the avalanche incidents on the mountain this past weekend. Yes, I think it's safe to say that the participants came away from from their courses as more informed backcountry users, thanks to the experienced guides.
