Oh that’s not too bad for the parking lot at Pinkham Notch this time of year. Probably powder up in the bowl.

Never choose to hike that in the summer even though Huntingtons is a great hike. Just don't go to the summit...ruins the day.
Ha first time I hit the #rockpile our group go to the summit, most of us in no shape to have made it there. I still remember having to wait for a ~300 pound woman that had just gotten off the COG to struggle up the rocks to the summit sign for a pic before we could.

That said, summit sign to car is a great run.

Peruvian, any footage of this tomahawk? Better the bottom 3rd vs the top, at least the kid tomahawking down center bowl posted on the fb group has you beat.

Hows the snow holding up at K? I'm basically looking at 5/12-13 or 6/2-3. Is June skiing looking like a real possibility? I'd hate to pass on next weekend and screw myself over.

I sure hope so but none from our group who was even more gripped as I was the first to drop. I got taken out by sluff just above the rocks and slid/tomahawked down to just the top of where the sluff starts to build up so I'd say it was truly the middle third - the steepest pitch.

    You guys got in some impressive yo-yos , bagging 1, 2 & 3.

GOS was at it's convivial best; the walking on the way back to Pinks was of little effect against the day.

Went by quickly here, 10-12 minutes, followed by a minute long 44mph blast of wind.

Looks like you all had a great time on the Big Hill, except for tomahawking of course. I am shooting for an Otto mid week GG hit if the stars align, super busy these days.

Wouldn't care to be in an open shelter during this.

Getting thin at teh bush, regroomed this evening, the two holes weren't there this AM. Saw someone hacking down two nights ago and saw a lot of glide cracks and fissures. Get here early before it rots out.

Went for my first Cyclocross ride tonight, lots of trees to ride around, over or carry the bike over or around and some mud to avoid. 139 rides to go.

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11

Sitting up awake and listening to trees snap and smash around my house. Pretty unsettling. Power went out a ways ago but the generator is gtg for the morning. Wind is fuckin HOWLING.

I picked the wrong time to leave the chainsaw kit at work though. Gonna be a mess tomorrow.

Armageddon here in the So Adk. Trees down everywhere, power out, wind ripping. Three tree down detours added an hour to the drive.

My only screengrab, not sure why it is huge... I drove through some of that red shit on 87,

I wouldn't wait. The melt is exponential these days. The glacier at the top of Superstar is not as big as last year and overall, the snow depth isn't as big. I'd be shocked if they make it past Memorial Day.

Even if the patch is small, the 2018 Mount Washington Memorial Day BBQ and Slackfest will be happening on the East Snowfields for all three Memorial Day w/e days, if the road is open*.

I'll put up the bamboo for the 2018 10th Mountain Memorial Day Slalom on all three(*) days....it's not a race, just a way to remember and be grateful for what the 10th did for the world and for us as skiers (and riders and also climbers).

Grills, coolers, lawn furniture, children and dogs will be present....bring your straw hats**

** Your favorite hat is also apropos
