Are you questioning my met skillz pal?! I have a better track record than Josh this year...wait, that's a low bar even for a amateur hack like me, strike that
Hey, I just answered the man's question, what do I know about what goes on down in Joeyville anymore, I've lived in VT for 11yrs now. But with that lift beta, I'll have to agree with you since I doubt one gets much more than the other. Not that I know anything about Plattekill but what it lacks in elevation compared to huntah they might make up and then some being a bit further west. FTR - I was talking about tomorrow morning not Saturday but my pipe dream of that happening just died when the mrs. came home and shot that idea down in 30 brief seconds!

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11
Have fun looking up at trail count you can’t ski because the lifts aren’t running
Just sayin. Gusts around 50? Hunter is about as viable of a choice as whiteface when the wind is blowing. You’d likely ski more at Bellayre and that’s just a sad thought. Sure they are in the sweet spot but I’d never commit a long drive to be let down by detachable lifts on a blowy day. If you’re driving that far go to Platty. Least likely to shut down due to wind, that’s for sure.
Fuck I wish Hickory was open, it would be such an easy choice. God I love that place.
Edit: Someone already beat me to my Huntah snark. Sonofabitch, you’ve got to be fast when there’s a storm brewin!

I remember skiing hunter on a Monday after some outrageous storm same time of year. Apparently the weekend before Bellyesre had shut down bc of the power going out, everybody came to hunter, then the lift o. The backside of hunter closed and people had to walk miles to get back to the lodge or were paying somebody $20 a head to hop in their pick up. Snowbanks in town were at least four feet tall.
Skied untouched pow in the glades right off the trail (where had everyone been skiing??) then spent the afternoon hiking up towards the true Hunter mtn and dropping in on all these crazy Glade lines in knee deep pow that drained back into the base. Tour guide was an old local who whipped out a Capri Sun every lift ride and pounded it. I don't know where he hid them all. Finished the day jumping some of the cliffs right under the main chair, somehow none roped off. Drove to NYC that night and sent it deep Wild trip!!
[Cool story, Hansel]

Ha, ml definitely schooled me quickly! I was bringing my split as a likely way up but not happening so I'm hoping da bush gets something worthwhile so I can use one of the 9 vouchers I have before they are useless. Either that or I join the bottleclan at the mighty for soup and beacon training before I head west.
Hoping you get caught in the bands and maybe I'll make a trip down this weekend if the inn of mniaw has availability.Last edited by FussyDutchman; 03-01-2018 at 09:15 PM.

I just saw this in a Killington newsletter, looks like quite a bit of work is going to be done this summer.
New Snowdon 6-person Detachable Bubble Chairlift
Replacing the existing Snowdon Quad fixed grip chairlift, this new Poma-Leitner lift will improve access to intermediate and family terrain in the Snowdon area, reducing wait and ride times while increasing passenger comfort.
South Ridge Quad Chairlift
The highly anticipated replacement of the old South Ridge Triple, removed in 2011, restores ready access to terrific natural snow terrain in the South Ridge area, and provides additional connectivity between Bear Mountain and the north side of the resort.
Extensive Updates to the K-1 Express Gondola
New Poma-Leitner 8-passenger cabins, new haul rope and a newly enclosed, heated barn for cabin storage will thoroughly modernize the iconic K-1 Express, increasing reliability and guest comfort.
Numerous Trail Improvements
Installation of bridge and tunnel systems will improve traffic flow at key intersections on Snowdon and Skye Peak. We'll also widen, re-grade and re-route portions of Great Northern to make it more accommodating for intermediate skiers and riders.
Relocation of the Snowdon Poma Lift to Ramshead’s Swirl Trail
The move creates a dedicated training area for Killington Mountain School and Killington Ski Club, while increasing guest access to intermediate terrain on Snowdon.
New RFID Systems at Killington and Pico Mountain
Both resorts will introduce Axess smart gates with RFID (radio-frequency-identification) for direct-to-lift convenience and hands-free automated pass and ticket scanning.

I think we know who is hosting next years Utahfest...
Deer Valley is plush (and I actually like skiing there... ) Big Sky was great, but tough to come home to a closed MRG. I highly recommend a visit and Harry is a great tour guide/host. And dare I say it, but I think Bridger Bowl is better than Alta.
Lots of sick lines, which I barely got to even taste. Lone Peak is hudge.
Some music for this weather

Yep. Snowed an inch, rain and now sleet. I’m at 1100 feet so I hope/assume this is snow up higher.
