This is just begging for a atv and a tow rope. ^^^I remember when Keller use to come to Higher Ground every winter. I can't even pronounce half of the bands that play there now.

    Man, these fur jocks chafe.

Watched the nordic race @ the Woodstock Inn today. Some fast, fast skiers in some maaaaanky snow. Say it with me: sufferfest. Fun to watch though.

My beef against Hermitage Properties (aside from seeming epically douchey) is built upon the fact that they would never let my Journalism students come interview them and do a story on the place. Multiple groups of interested kids rebuked or ignored. So yeah, schadenfreude:

I'm not much of a prognasticator, but the forecast looks really shitty in town. Local XC has been shit for weeks. Even if the mountains get crushed early season style, the weather is really taking a toll on my desire to ski. The freezing rain crust turned into pure sugar today, but still, the animals were out and it just felt like the Red Sox must of last October when it got late early.

I'm about to watch Adam Ondra crush this 15D and think about how bad the black flies will be the first time I rope up this year. Mines, day at george, bump fest at killington, and over.

I’d prefer to wait another month for spring bump skiing, but today was damn good nonetheless.

Nice to see da whale hanging on. Without beer league this past week, I didn't get my normal journey over there and was wondering how it's going... With the fx as it is, one's got to wonder if we'll be able to round out the season of beer league.

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11

Saw Keller at Stratton last summer. He seems like the guy who lives in an off-campus apartment and has co-eds over to discuss philosophy, play guitar and rip bong hits. Not necessarily in that order.

It was nice that the precipitation remained snow until almost lunch and then mixed, finally going to liquid around 1:15.

Keller was fkn weak at Fall Strawberry last year. Grateful Grass. Never been my favorite but he was sloppy and slow. Poor. A waste of time. Made the Infamous Stringdusters look bad.

A few inches of heaviness on top of some wicked hahd pack made for some surprisingly enjoyable mogul skiing at Sunapee today. Spotted savemesammy, but didn't get a chance to meet up. Just a reminder:

Not that it matters to anyone here, but..........I've been loving the 2013 Atomic Burner 130 boot. Just picked up a replacement pair, new no box, for $135 shipped on Ebay. Faaawking psyched.

Here's my annual jong-at-resort TR for MNIAW.

    SKIING IS FUN.

The Loaf is somewhere I would never find myself if I wasn't paid to play / stay there. i mean, it's out of the way but still built up a bunch & therefore more spendy than sendy...

Despite the bleak week, it skiied surprisingly well saturday morning (after an hour windhold) and I never needed to wait more than a minute or two in line. Though I'm bad w names, think my favorite trail was gondy line- had a nice scrapey drop in which did wonders to scare people away from the good snow below. 3D turns in on the steep headwall, and none of that WROD i saw near the base. Very low traffic. Had a great handful of runs before playing a few apres sets- had a few of the staff's toddlers dancing around in front of the stage and it was actually adorable. Contagiously cool lil kids. I will say the staff up there seem like quality folks (but I'm biased as they really took care of us). The grown ups had their post-kiddo playtime pretty hard, both friday and saturday nights were packed with a mix of locals/staff, for sure flatlanders (like mahself), and this rugby team from boston. Many a drink bought for the band, brownies passed out, and maybe even a gf/wife offering or two,

Pained me to drive away from the snow, I bet tomorrow will be tits up there.

Didn't try the soup but goin halfses w a pulled pork sammy /// reuben, paired w a nice meaty bloody, was the best hill-bought lunch i've had, mehbeh ever? Sorry i housed the first half before thinking to snap a pic but damn look at this reuben. Mmmmmmm.

Also their lil coffee/donut spot doesn't sell individual donuts (start at the half dozen) but if you ask nicely and don't pout when they say no, you might just get gifted a nice sugary talking point- donut over the straw. Mmm. To top off that very minor but still strong smile-inducing interaction, the bartender who stole my heart made the iced coffee irish- great way to start the day.

In summary, the loaf treated me well, the locals I met were great, the staff even greater, and skiing is fun.

Just enough to scratch the itch at Black Mtn (of Maine) this afternoon. Driving to and fro was horrendous but we're able to wander off the few open runs late in the day and slake the thirst with some groomer pow. Place looks like it'd be a total blast with some base and a good pow day, they've gladed the shit outta the place. Hope we get enough snow in March to warrant a return 🤞

We could have been twinning in black and green. Oh well . I was on my twin tips which aren’t quite as bump friendly as mogul skis, but it was still damn fun - especially the first few runs! My 10 year old was sending the whole course without stopping, and my little 8 year old was linking some turns together. It was a damn good day. Glad we got out there.

    Huh?

bush finally hit 100" yesterday, can't remember a later date in the 27 years I have been here.

    NWS Disc.

Next question...where is the cold air...definitely not
associated with this system. Initially profiles are very warm
with progged 850mb temps near 0c...supporting snow levels near
summits. Also...easterly winds are not advecting in colder air
to support snow...however as winds shift to the north and cold
air aloft from closed 5h/7h circulation develop...expect the
column to slowly cool enough to support some snow. Given the
expected thermal profiles this will be a rain vs snow event and
highly variable based on elevation. Best potential to see
several inches of heavy wet snow would be Killington/Ludlow
areas and mainly above 1500 feet...but once again and shift to
the north would bring better precip chances toward central VT.
Also...we will need the heavier precip rates to help cool the
column enough to support snow. Very disappointing to be in late
Feb and discussing a system tracking to our south with limited
cold air. Otherwise...any lingering rain/snow activity weakens
Friday Night with dry weather returning for Saturday. The trend
of much above normal temps continue for Thursday into the
weekend...with highs mid 30s to lower 40s and lows mainly in the
upper 20s to mid 30s. Some cooler air arrives by late Saturday
    into early next week.

I really hope the storm track moves back north of where it is currently forecasted. This season really needs some life back into it.
