I haven't been to Mount Snow in years, but somehow am on their mailing list. Looks like they are going to have a huge opening day:

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11

I refuse to go to Mount Snow.
Front side of that mountain is littered with Jerries.
And even few on north face.

Good times at K today. The first few runs in the sun were great. As MNIAW mentioned, it got damn cold when the clouds rolled in. All of our finger tips were in pain, even walking back up the stairs to the summit lodge. Of course a few Fiddlehead and some lunch warmed us right up.

    Plattekill tele crew was representing.

Solid start to this thead: ironically named IPAs, snow pics, good times and DaveVT actually stoked. Bottleman, of course, is souping his way to glory as always and even has new boards (not made of antique glass!). Somewhere Buttah is riding 743 miles on his grinder, but he'll be schralping soon enough as well. I'm feeling a half day's worth of illness coming on sometime next week for my first day out at Killyton (classic racing ref yo). Now someone please convince my wife that n+1 really is the answer.

Looking forward to turns and good times with many of you soon. Ungh!

Edit: Happy Vets Day MNIAW. Thanks to you and any other Vet mags. Cheers!

Old mother nature flipped the bitch on seasons today. Holy cow. It's pretty sweet to see snow in the NEK! Here's to a killer season. You can thank me for buckets of snow by the way for taking a 9-5 job for the first time in my life.

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11

Think about the kids knees, for the love of god man. Learn to rip on xc skis and progress from there. No skills will be gained from skiing something that wide, at his age. Sweet skis, but for fucks sake dude, think of his knees.

and biggins is correct. oh-key-moe., is opening tomorrow, T2B, like 1800 vert on two of their best cruisers. Earliest I can remember.
    Busy shop.

Enough natural snow to set a skin track away from the guns.

There was a healthy assortment of soft powder, snowmaking chalk, and sheets of ice. I grinned ear-to-ear the entire time.
Did you start at 6:10ish? I think we bumped into each other in the parking lot. Centerline was great for a first run.

Great to see more than one ski area getting after it to open. Wildcat goes 2100 vert on upper/middle/lower Lynx tomorrow. May bring the bike and skis Sunday. Make some turns then hit up Redtail/kettle ridge for a little cardio on the way home. Love that Redtail climb <3

I had yesterday off so I had more of a leisurely start at 9:00. I was definitely glad to not be starting in the dark with the snow being so variable.

This stretch is looking really nice. Consistent cold at night and temps right at or just above freezing every day. Looks like we could even have the beginnings of the natural base by the end of next week.

On cue. Fuck off Buttah. Can't you just be cool? Fat Kid Skis are game changers for skiing natural snow. I want him to enjoy fresh snow, not fight with it on stupid skinny over-shaped crap.

He was so stoked on his home-made fatties last year because he could suddenly ski deep snow. You're spewing the same dumb shit I used to hear at the lift BITD when I'd show up on my Cold Smokes by the same posers who now tool around the resort on DPS with tech bindings and skins in their pack they've never used. Weak Sauce old man. Should he be race training to gain skills? That any better on his joints? It's about fun you douche. He's gonna rip, and love sking as long as I keep him stoked on it.

Stella last year. So deep when you're 3 feet tall. Then NE SLOPES didn't open until that weekend, 3 days later in a foot plus of consolidated un-tracked all day long. I watched him progress that day. Maybe not in a PSIA sort of way, but in more of a "Surf's up, let's get barreled!" kinda way.

Remember how shitty last season was until that storm? Hopefully we won't have to wait until February for winter to kick in this year. Hoping for snow during Christmas wen all the NU cadets are gone for a month. Our little back yard is magical when the students aren't out there fucking about.

Bah, his knees are eventually fucked no matter what. Ride the fatties.

By then, they probably have way advanced knee replacements.

Buy a snowboard. Your knees will thank you, but you'll be a kook.

Variable is a nice way to put it. Ran into a snowmaker at the bottom who just laughed at us, but then told centerline was flatish and had a few inches of natural snow on top. Nice soft turns for a few hundred feet then teeth rattling to super sticky for the rest.
