When I speak, I only speak of the classical approach

Think the run I skied in the photos is one of those names. Top entrance was the tickly crux.

Also tried the first run you see hiking down, but it choked out in less than 200 vertical with badly undercut snow and loud flowing water- yikes.

Good to see you Cat! I'm not even sure we told you, but the rock came down and hit a ski of a guy hiking up, slowed, then Chuck kind of kicked it and it came to a rest in the boot pack. I kicked out a hole next to a large purtruding rock and stuffed it down in. It's bound to come loose again. Need to wear a helmet hiking up!

And, that is (I believe) a 'wing' of airplane. Kinda suprised it was already out. Next one over is Turkey. We hiked up from below as far as we could into Turkey as that is not connected either.

Sideways turns on the easties ftw!

I'm pretty sure I did more vert than Jonathan.

Tried to hold the rock-if you look in the second photo my uphill ski is under it, but gave way. Yelled when it dropped. Talked with Mike who watched it go down and he thought it was going to stay in the side chute I was in which is what I was hoping. He started yelling rock too when it jumped over into airplane gully. Chuck told me about him stopping it with his boot. Thanks for burying it. Definitely did not like dropping the rock and that it bounced over towards the booter was not good. Did not know it hit a ski of a guy hiking up, yikes. Glad all turned out ok.

Definite hero in the Easties. Good day for sure.

Nobody lost an eye, so all is good.

Looking up Turkey and nice to see a little debris keeping the bottom of airplane skiable. We need a big one to open it up even further.

Yeah, hard to say not being there. It's always skiable, just maybe not enjoyable

This is my kid on the wing 5/18/14... connected that year. The choke is always tight if you're slackin'.

The slackfest spirit is contagious but the VT lines are a lot shorter.

This was the longest patch I came across at about 100’. I opted for 3 laps instead of 10 so didn’t manage the full Airplane experience but it got the job done!

Would there be any snow left?

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11

Maybe a patch in tuckerman with tons of undermining- I would think it sketchy to walk on / ski unless super flat / known what is underneath.

Showed up at Killington around 1:15. Turns out they closed at noon due to "inclement weather". Oh well.

Nice coverage down to the lift, but the top looked pretty thin.

    NYSB spam alert:

In 2013 two young film makers from NYC approached us for help connecting with mountain ops at the 4 mountains in the Cats. Nearly five years later, they sent me link to a short film called Snowfarmers. An interview and the video here:

N aspects are holding good and road is clear the whole way. We were still skinning around today, although access options are changing quickly.

^^^^Agree if you like the older, smaller ski areas this shares the passion that goes into keeping them running. Well worth watching while enjoying a beverage.

Good stuff in that Doc. passion runs deep for many small areas.

Looking thin on Superstar after yesterdays rain. I'll be there Friday for my last day of the season[though if by some unlikely chance the open June1, maybe] bumping and hanging in the sun. Should be the best day of the weekend though a bit too warm. Haven't sen a bikini all spring, but hopes are high.

    Lets party!
