The slides were deep today. But also, absolutely raped and pillaged. They started out with avy gear required, someone got hurt, which took all of the 6 patrol from the summit. And it turned into an insane free for all. I’ve never seen anything like it.
I talked to my one patrol buddy at the bottom before the they shut it down, he said it “was a fucking terrible day”. I’ve never seen anyone sledded out of there before. Saw 2 today. Carnage everywhere.

My 12 year absolutely loved it and crushed it. That’s all that matters. Good times

Not sure yet. Definitely Monday morning. Might do Gore tomorrow or hit some backcountry and take a break from the lifts

Although, I could’ve lapped cloudspin for days.... doesn’t get much better than that

STOWE, Vt. A warning for those thinking about enjoying the mountains this weekend.

Safety officials say skiing or hiking could trigger an avalanche. Vermont search and rescue says they've received over 30 calls of people unable to get out of the woods on their own this past week. They urge skiers and hikers to have a planned route and know the territory. They say if you choose to go out this weekend, stick to marked trails on ski mountains, rather than exploring the back country.

“We're hoping that at least through this weekend and until weather conditions create more stable snow pack that people should really be staying out of those steeper areas,” said Vermont Search and Rescue Coordinator, Neil Van Dyke.

Van Dyke says to always have avalanche awareness in the back of your mind, and to carry the proper equipment when you head outdoors.

If you think calling me a bitch will get me to ski and drink beer at Kmart this spring then you’d be right.

That’s not entirely true, Valley ambulances do not have paramedics, Barre does. Often times Barre will be called in to assist on a call if it appears heightened care will be needed. I’d wager to guess Barre makes a run through the valley almost weekly perhaps more, but it has nothing to do with how busy rescuers are in the valley.

After 30 calls, give Neil some slack. He’s clearly overwhelmed.

Good lord. I was genuinely hoping to be wrong there, in spite of my obvious cynicism. Guess a Magnum 44 at the resort just isn't enough to fight off wolves anymore. Be safe y'all.

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11

Had the best XC ski day of my life Saturday.

Val D is epic in winter and summer. The black trails were super challenging. Thigh burning uphills with endless herringbones and crazy downhills rocketing around turns at ludicrous speed. The place was emptying out when i got there at 2:30 and I skied till 7 with a new lady friend that's keeping me fit, basically the last car in the lot before getting the best poutine in QC at mouton noir. I love checking out the cliffs in the winter, this is the aiguille of mont condor, it's loaded up with spicy 10's, trad and sport.

Also, I can't plate my car in Quebecistan so I'm going to list it on BTV and Plattsburgh cl for 4500. If anyone wants it on this thread, I'd make a much better deal to a mag. I freaking love this car and it has been virtually problem free but I can't keep it.

Good stuff ml! The skate skiing has been great after it was nonexistent for a while. Weston was great this morning, a reasonable stand in for downhill. Click image for larger version.
