So good at the Bush this morning. Superhero snow and an inch or 2 of fresh. Also nice to see Upper Pass on tap at the bar.

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11
I was up until 3am helping to fight a fire of the main pump house at Bromley. It was amazingly hot and when the electric bits started burning it sounded like someone threw a box of 20 gauge shells in there. Serious arcing as well.
Luckily they were able to open today and the natural snow trails skied really well. They should be in fine shape for Xmas as they had already drained two ponds worth of snowmaking on the mountain.
Hopefully they can get some portable pumps in to resume blowing after the holiday.

This morning at 10:30, Company 5 and Centre Hall Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to assist Boalsburg Fire Company with a high-angle rescue at Tussey Mountain Ski Resort. The initial dispatch reported that multiple chairs on the lift had slid backwards and struck the chairs behind them, causing 3 or more injuries, trapping about 20 people, and leaving close to 100 total people stuck on the lift. Rescue 5 responded, to assist crews from Rescue 3 and Engine Rescue 4-1.
When crews arrived, they were transported to the top of the mountain via SnowCat, and began to set up a haul system to disentangle the chairs from one another. Crews set up a 3:1 haul system and anchored it to the SnowCat. Life-safety ropes were then tied to each of the chairs involved in the accident. One-by-one, each of the was pulled forward using the haul system and secured to the SnowCat, allowing PSOC Ski Patrol at Tussey Mountain to lower the patients from each chair using a rope and harness.
Extrication of all patients was marked complete approximately 2 hours after dispatch. 5 non-life threatening injuries were reported, and around 75 people were rescued from the in total. The cause of the accident will be under investigation. Extensive training on ropes and rigging, and the teamwork of all rescue personnel involved were what allowed this rescue to go so smoothly.

Was a rad day riding despite the low temps. Glad we linked up!! The lack of wind made it enjoyable. Got the wife out on skis for the first time in 18 y and she was shredding double blacks and pushing us to do more runs. Stoked!!
Up nord looking like the place to be on the weekend.
That wreckage looks gnar, glad no one was hurt.27° 18°

WOW. When I got home Saturday evening I heard what sounded like fireworks but I guess it was the pump house in flames. That's gotta hurt. They are well ahead of schedule but with the holidays and the typical pre-Christmas unfriendly weather, I hope they have a solid contingency plan.
Peruvian, thanks to you and the crew(s) for making sure this wasn't a lot worse. Must have been a tough night to be fighting a fire. I hope the snow gods reward you.
