Thanks splat- and another piece in the puzzle:

    >>At some point, Appel joined the Hawai'i Actors Network, noting on the group's website that she has "been known to do almost any skydiving or motorcycle stunt - camera optional." Through the group, she found work as an extra in the former TV series "Off the Map" and the former sitcom "Cougar Town," appearing in that show in a pink bikini in the background of a season finale.

“Off the map” was a series is set in a remote South American village, where seven doctors search for reasons that brought each of them to medicine.<<

What is seen cannot be unseen!!!! I DO NOT want to see!!!!
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

They probably thought their EPIRB was useless when they couldn't activate vibrate mode. Decided to run around the deck waving giant dildos instead.

Well at 700 pounds and more, it can be a dog in light airs, true...but in heavy air that flat bottom chine hull gets up on a plane for some pretty sprightly sailing. That's what I liked about it. Although that flattish bottom can hammer in medium chop. She's no trapeze boat, but fun! And yes...a good way to learn what a pain in the ass spinnakers are!

But one of my absolute favorite small boats is really a big boat in a small package: the inimitable Herreshoff 12 1/2. An absolutely gorgeous little yacht of a day sailer. She is a full keeler in a tiny 12 and a half foot waterline.

Growing up, our neighbor had an antique one that would spend every summer on the bouy at the yacht club, bobbing up and down pretty as a peach.

Pricey as hell, though, for a less than 13 ft waterline! 😮😮

Not sure, but I bet the phrase "I'm the captain now" would come up in the story.

I sailed Lightening #396 at the Wooden Boat Regatta in R.I. We did a lot more bailing than sailing as I recall.

that's some weird wild stuff. I was wondering how she got the money for a 50-ft sailboat (not the mention the previous boat she wrecked), this sort of answers it (sex work and an old boat that needed work). I'd still like to know where the boat is, and for a boat forensics expert to explain that weird fouling line on the freeboards

Supposedly the Navy just left it adrift as they had no way to easily lift it onto the destroyer (?) that was the rescue ship.

I have a friend who reminds me of Appel. Likes boats, degree, quit a good job to dance and run her own adult business, recently things blew up for her in a bad way.

That's not growth fouling. That's oil fouling from a slick. The oceans are filled with small slicks where unscrupulous captains have purged their ship's bilges before heading to port. Fuckers. It's awful stuff too....and damn hard to scrub off a white hull.

I think you must have written the same on the onion ring site- you seem to be the only one with that opinion. It sure looks like growth to me, maybe along with oil in it.
