I'm glad to have the pleasure of climbing a few of the many routes that he established.
Rest in Peace Fred!

My memory might mislead me. But pretty sure Fred was arriving at Index when Eric, Hannah and I were leaving after a day of cragging, the day before the three of us skied NF of Shuksan in July 2006 and H broke her leg on the lower part of the upper face.
Ran into him a few times in some other contexts around Seattle. Mostly admire his life. Have used his Cascade Alpine Guides extensively and love them. Interesting parallel that both he and Reinhold Messner lost a brother in the mountains?

Such an insperation
I have gotten into climbing, and skiing later in life, and seeing people such as Beckey have inspired me to teach my children to follow their hearts regardless of what is in front of them.
RIP

Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey
Available on Prime now with membership. Watched it today, really well done. There are a couple of good bits toward the end of the credits worth sticking around for.
Came across this after - good read...
