Cool WASATCH STOKE, CONDITIONS, OBSERVATIONS AND ASSORTED DRIVAL 17-18

What's up everybody! Normally I would wait for SFB or sfotex to kick this one off but I rolled up on post 1000 for me bitches so sorry for snaking your freshies!

It's a little early but people have already skied some tibfibpowder in the 'Snatch and there are Christmas decorations at home depot and so.....

No observations or stoke to post other than I can see snow in the high alpine from my house which means rotten shit on the N faces for when the goods and Iceman arrive.

Edit to add: Now that I posted this we probably won't get any more snow until December //antijinx\\

Looks like we're gonna have to stay suspicious of high, north-facing, shaded slopes for awhile.

Probably 2019. I'm more interested in the chondola coming soon!

But really, what is the point of a chondola?

So that gapers can struggle to say "we should've gone to the Chondola" while in the wildcat line

I've heard rumor that this was onno's grand idea, so maybe it will die the death it deserves now.

Not defending Onno here but he had been talking about trying to eliminate artillery for a long time. Several years ago when Alta floated the idea of a lift on Flagstaff not having to shoot over the Town was one of his arguments. I am not in favor of a lift on Baldy, the other "improvements" seem to make sense. Wildcat needs to be replaced, every time I see the YAN name still on the lift at the top I shudder. (I know it has been retrofit and is safe) A quad or maybe make it a high speed triple by utilizing the chairs from the current Sunnyside would be fine with me. I like eliminating the EBT, all too often it is a PIA anyway. Being able to ski East Baldy all the way to the bottom across what is now the cat track makes that hike worth it. Looking at the proposed route for the Flora lift it looks like the unloading point would be on the ridge above Collins. I hope it is not so high that it eliminates the hike up to Yellow Trail ridge. For me, having to work for good terrain is a plus.

I dig all the other ideas. Maybe not wild about the kitty replacement. I like the slow fixed double. I think they could do gazex on baldy instead of a tram. EBT gone? Perfect. Grizzly lift idea I also like. I even didn't mind a lift up Flagstaff, but grizzly would gain the ridge and allow for control without shooting over town possibly. Can't wait to be skiing again.

I don't know enough about Gazex to concur but would you not have to have the equipment in and maybe multiple pipes sticking out in all the chutes? Main, Dog Leg etc are pretty narrow to be have exposed pipes.

I believe those pipes would be at the top of chutes only no need for them in. They currently only shoot the top and shoulder pretty much. Good gazex install maybe along the ridge towards top of each line? I don't know a ton either, but for sure know there has to be a better solution than a damn tram up there.

    wise

been inundated with a shitty acquisition but enough of that. point being is we had training integration meeting #274 cancelled yesterday, so the afternoon suddenly opened up. wanted to get out to break in some boots and took a walk up to snakecreek. took a lap down pioneer without note. took another down a similar aspect before heading down for my 11-12 call. lots of jibbers out in the boneyard. then took a walk up to the summit of solitude. quiet, nice to feel the weather on your face again and didn’t see a soul until hearing a snowmobiler in the distance. kid got stuck on his way to summit. after helping him out, asked “what’s in the café rio bag?" that was tied to the handle bar, "any colorado blvd tacos??” ... no dice unfortunately
