    MPC #165: BOKEH. 10/22 - 11/26

Topic = Bokeh. Break out those prime lenses and let's see what you've got.

Hopefully it's OK, but I'll run this one through Thanksgiving weekend- so hopefully we'll get a bunch of entries and it'll set up the following MPC to run through Christmas or New Year's.

    RULES:

    1. Photos must be taken within the time period of the contest.
    2. You may submit 3 photos during the competition.
    3. The contest moderator will choose 5 (or 6) photos to be voted on.
    4. The winner will get a happy feeling in his/her pants. (That is a rule by the way, not an option.)
    5. In the event of a tie, the contest moderator will have the deciding vote.
    6. Winner will be the contest starter/moderator for the next comp.
    7. The winner has 3 days to start a new contest or 2nd place becomes the new winner.
    8. And have fun.

^^^ Glad you're digging the new camera.

Need to do a card dump and see if I have any for this entry. Will check back.

    MPC #165: BOKEH. 10/22 - 11/26

    1) Tried a technique I saw where you can cut a hole in some cardboard and create shapes in your bokeh.

I've contributed only occasionally to MPC's in the past but most of the time felt like the topic was way out of my league, ability-wise. They still are, but now that I have a better camera, I'm taking it more as a challenge to figure out how to do these styles of photography, since I can no longer use "shitty P&S" as an excuse.

So I want to say thanks to the regular contributors, and especially those of you that posted about what gear you're using or have Flickr links with EXIF data. At first this MPC felt impossible without a super fast prime lens, and then I realized that some of you guys are posting amazing shots taken with long zoom telephoto lenses with relatively slow apertures... just like mine. It still took a bunch of trial and error with generally mediocre results, but I would have never figured out how to take these following two shots without that.
