TAHOE: LAND OF THE SNOWFLAKES -- 17/18 STOKE

    Welcome... Back!
The last two winters have been good and exceptional, respectively. The drought years are a fading memory. This year is still unknown. But weather is always up in the air (ha!). So, we need to be there for each other. If it's not snowing, someone is having fun somewhere or wants to blast resort management after waiting hours in traffic for a mountain that is rained out. We are all subject to powerful men's choices but we have the power of many if we only band together. So lift each other up. Post that hilarious vid of your buddy crashing, but buy him a beer afterwards. If it is snowing, we all deepen our enjoyment by building excitement and sharing joy afterward. So let's face whatever this winter has for us as a community. Bring on the snowflakes!

    Get good karma:
Keep Squaw True Development affects us all. Help shape it in accordance with local values, not bureaucrats and investors from out of the area.
Tahoe Backcountry Alliance Collective action so that the Powers That Be can hear backcountry users speaking up about winter access.
One Reno Mount Rose Anti-colonial kickstarter working to keep Mt Rose ski area local and responsive to skiers. Volunteers needed!

Awesome drive up 267 today. Winter on one side and summer on the other.

Here's a little Tahoe footage in this ad:

I hear ya. I think while we wait for more snow, it would be awesome to post best-of footy there, especially anything from the megastorm.

It's about fucking time. Hopefully winter wasn't jinxed because this thread was not started after the September 21 snow. Whatever...if a little less snow brings a little less hype and a lot less traffic, I'll be happy. Tired of summer responsibilities and ready to be a ski bum again...

I'm thinking our patience will be rewarded. Better than jumping the gun I say.

After a nasty MTB crash a few days ago over some rocks that left me limping back to my house in TD covered in blood and pushing my bike and leaning against it so I wouldn't fall over and pass-out, I think I'm ready for the forgiving surface of snow. It was nice to wake up to this the next morning even if it will all melt off.

I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

    "Method Man" Patch, Round Top.
First schussed by 3 SLT snowboarders (thanks for setting the boot-pack!) and then by moi and Powdrhound.

inch-to-4-inches of fresh over refrozen, bullet-proof, corrugated moonscape...tres interesting for sure.

Parent's just bought a house in North Lake. My sister lives up there, she had a baby, and now my parents want to "up and move" from the east coast to be apart of everything.. Beyond stoked, for my new niece(gonna be a ripper) and the house. They avoided my main concern for the house, they didn't "overpay", which is nice to hear. I will be helping a bit with mortgage ("surprise son, we want no less than $300 a month if you want to enjoy!!"), so I will definitely be getting some use out of it this season and in future seasons. Gonna hop on that Mountain Collective Pass.

Finally I can get in deep at Squaw/Alpine (lived on heavenly for 2 years, rarely made the drive) and get to know the fun.

Hopefully I can ski with some of ya'll.

Larry Ellison just bought Cal-Neva for 38.5 million. It will be nice to see the old place back on track to refurbishing. Maybe they tear it down and start over who knows.
