TAHOE: LAND OF THE SNOWFLAKES -- 17/18 STOKE

Hey Rod, sorry so slow on the reply. Prolly 1-2 miles before good skinning. I didn’t go that way. We dirthiked the proletariat ridge via Rose summer trailhead, skins from proletariat to tamarack, skied hourglass around 9:15 (good) and broken glass around 11:00 after a beer and bourbon. Then over to houghton. Skinned a short ways to relay road then dirthiked, beer in hand, back to the TH on relay road and that 1/2 mike spur.

Nice, I was thinking about the same thing, but I got some stomach bug.
    Maybe Sunday.

Was the crescent Moon in good condition?

Lookers left shot which I skied was money, did not get a look into the middle one but I saw what looked like a booter at the top of it but did not notice tracks down so it could have been just climbers. Main one looked good for the bottom 2/3, roll in from the hanger is melted out and looks to narrow for my taste on top

Pretty sure I'm finished skiing this year... The turns off Houghton were good. The exit, less so.

    Relay from Houghton

Oh my, the usual Summer line is looking good I'm planning on hitting it on the 16th with some Sisters lines mixed in. Any word on Woods Lake parking lot being open?

It is open, was a 1 mile 25 min hike to skinnable snow on the 1st, of course that's changing on a daily basis, summer is finally here!

I was there yesterday, parking lot was open and I managed to ski down to the creek crossing on the two logs, albeit with a little bit of creativity

According to the Alpine County website it is officially closed.
    http://www.alpinecountyca.gov/index.aspx?NID=176

However, in past seasons I have seen it be drivable down to the bridge or even up to the cabins before it is officially open.
It can be a time consuming recon drive. If it is passible to the cabins, all of the frontside of Folger is in play and usually pretty good.
When I skied Ebbetts Pass two weeks ago Folger Peak looked to be pretty well covered. However, the backside bowl of Hiram Peak looked to be baked off at the top. (The frontside of Hiram was hidden by Folger.)

1.5 miles from Boreal, presumably to the north? So Castle Peak area? Wow.
