Yep, I worked for the ski school there back in 81 and 82. Before that it was USSA Freestyle, before that it was junior high ski club nights. Last time I was there was around 1998.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Hey quick question on Marcus' technique - to learn, surely not to criticize:

I see lots of race-carved turns, however from time to time you see him flick around the skis quite quickly to do very short turns. This is very extreme for example in the moguls video, where he completely changes direction "mid air", but in a smoother form it can be found in this video at around 0:25 when he starts to go downhill. If you have a look at the ski tracks I'd say the turns are not fully carved but pivoted in the air. It's hard to see however from the camera's view angle.

Anyone can explain this technique? I'm really curious. In my youth I learned to ski on straight skis, but for the last 15 or so years I am more or less carving exclusively.

    Thanks!

As much as Marcus has a ripping technique he probably has as much or equal parts dedication, fitness, confidence, and guts.

Guys at that level are mentally several turns or moves ahead of actual physical contact/location. Pretty amazing isn’t it.

I think what you’re describing is a textbook slarve or schmear that has been a foundational technique of off-piste skiing since the McConkey era when rockered skis became a thing.

Come to bbi and enroll in 2funky’s masterclass.

I'd surely have a blast in bbi however it's quite a stretch for me, living in Austria

So a slarve... yeah, that helps. I know Marcus was/is a pro and rips and is most of his time on skis, however I was really looking for a concrete pointer like the slarve. So something like a brushed turn I guess? It's a move that is treated like a step child nowadays, at least where I ski. A sign of old technique. Good to see it is still alive - Return of the Turn, makes sense!

Look up “stivot” or “skivot” (seems to go by both names).
