You and I, don't see eye to eye.
    Bon Jovi is bunk
The rock and roll hall of fame is bullshit.

In case anyone is wondering how bands/performers make it into the Hall of Fame:

How Do You Get Into the Hall of Fame?
Absolutely great person. Absolutely mediocre music.

    https://youtu.be/8lOVepbW7S8

    "Medio-Core"

    Medio-core
    It's not forsaken
    The music they're makin'
Will leave you with a feeling of indifference
    How was the band?
    They were okay (okay)
    Not great (all right)
    But pretty good
They played the songs I knew they would
    Some old
    Some new
    The same formula stays true
    We can concur
    It's medio-core

    Sing
    Sing a song
    Make it simple
So all the kids can sing along (ahh)
    Sing along (ahh)

    The list keeps growin'
    The melodies been stolen
Remind me of songs sung in the 70's
    You might fool the kids
    But you don't fool me
Have you ever heard of something called
    aboriginality?

    Is it absurd
To compose music no one's ever heard
    Predictability
Like a bussom will comfort them
    My one true foe
    L.C.D.

    (Medio-core) It's under powered
    The riffs are all deflowered
    (Medio-core) It's spreading faster
    Than British tooth decay
(Medio-core) Are you ready to rock?
    How ya'll doing tonight?
    (Medio-core) Your condescending fucks
Make me wanna laugh and puke at the same time.
    (Medio-core)
    I'm one to speak,
This song sounds like fifteen you've heard before
    Medio-core

    Sing
    Sing a song
    Make it simple
So all the kids can sing along (ahh)
    Sing along (ahh)

    Quoted for truth.

The Cars paved the way for a lot of the new music in the late 70's/early 80's. Glad to see them recognized.

And for Christ sake, KQ. You didn't even know about Courtney Barnett until I tried to turn you onto her, two years ago.
Listen to some new fucking music, as you Take a Lap.

Glad that I have been reminded about how great The Moody Blues are. All these songs are coming back. "Your Wildest Dreams" is a rad cut.

The whole notion of a fucking hall of fame for music is such bullshit.
It either rocks or it doesn't.
We don't need people who haven't heard anything new in years deciding what is worthy of induction into a corporate entity.
    Fuck the hall of shame.

I know you're just bored and playing around and that you understand that this is a thread about a select set of musicians who were up for induction into the R&R Hall of Fame and not a thread about music in general. No worries. I get it. We're cool.

    No you don't get, it.
You are stuck in a time warp, sister.
2017 had so much good music. Kendrick's album is so fucking good and you don't even know who he is. I could go on and on. Wolf Alice? Rostam?
Amy Shark? Bully? Beth Ditto? Dessa? Fever Ray? Jain? Do any of these ring a bell?

This thread is about the hall of fame. A bands first album had to drop 25 years ago to be eligible.

You are out of your element Donny.

I already stated my pure disdain for the hall of shame.
Anyone listening to music from 25 years ago needs to take a nap.

    Your distain is clear.

What you don't understand is that this thread is about bands older than 25 years. And most everyone else is fine with that and doesn't give a fuck what you think about the hall of fame.

The Rock and Roll Hall of fame honors people who sold a lot of records. Same way the baseball hall of fame honors people who hit a lot of homers. To sell a lot of records you have to a) be around for a while, and b) appeal to a mass audience, which is tough these days, since rock and roll has subdivided into so many different genres and niches (and most of them aren't anything resembling rock and roll). How many records have any of your bands sold Buttah? (How many of them sold records at all?)

This has nothing to do with artistic merit. I listened to several of the bands you mentioned. They sound fine to me although not the style I listen to currently. I'm sure I could list a few you've never heard of that won't make the HOF either (R and R or C and W). That's the point--back in the day everybody knew who the moody blues were. (Not my favorite band either--too arty for my taste). There are a few musicians today like Beyonce that most people know--or at least most people who go to the dentist twice a year, but not like the old days.

For the record the people I listen to, mostly alt-country--are older (duh) but are still making interesting new music. When they stop making good new records I generally stop listening.
