I mean its not like she'd use that money for a heli to fly up a mountain for a wedding photo shoot or to fly around the world to ski or climb something then blog about it all the while generating greenhouse gases at a rate much higher than say Slaagmaster who bikes everywhere including up LCC to Snowbird to ski. Whose footprint is bigger? Has she ever even used UTA or ridden the ski bus?
So if my tax money paid for Team POW to recreate for the last couple years does that mean I'm her spancer?
As her spancer I'm gonna need less bullshit spewing about climate change and more action, yanno lead by exaple. To start she needs to join Slaag and Skihost's pedal power brigade to get her shred on without pollution. And one IG and Tweet per week of her riding the bus to get her organic greens at the farmers market.

Yeah, the wedding photos.
Anybody know where they are? Was looking, no success.
Can't remember if they were outright wilderness landings to boot.

Why all the Caroline Gleich hate?
Do these people have employees? Were they using the PPP loans to make payroll and cover benefits? I’m sure this is not limited to the POW influencers, but this is not a good look.
I’ve been considering it for a while and I think I’ll subscribe to the Mtn Gazette now.

Seems like their whole “job” is to ski and post pictures online which they all did even through the height of covid.
Doesn’t seem like they lost their job or wages so… fraud?

Why all the Caroline Gleich hate?
So taking a PPP loan as an outdoor athlete is a bunch of fucking shit but how did they actually get it forgiven? That’s even bigger horseshit.
I looked at her IG. She’s skied in Antartica, Alaska and Pakistan this year. WTF!

The self employed were eligible for a PPP loan. Occupation wasn’t subject to a purity test.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye got PPP loans. So did a huge swath of people in the music and video sectors, incl porn actors (all independent contractors).
I agree with Bunion - she occupies an oversized portion of y’all’s heads.

You have no idea how they spent that money, you are projecting.
Also, I’d rather have rad content creators for a sport I like getting the money and spending it into the economy than some Trump lackey taking the loan and investing it in some hedge fund.
Billionaires steal their billions from tax payers and crickets but a few middle class skiers take advantage of a program meant for them and you want to kick them out of your club? Come on now.

If they didn't break the law IDGAF.
And my taxes have not gone up--if anything they've gone down--so the "my tax dollars" rage seems a bit disingenuous.
Public appearances were all canceled, travel was canceled, how do you think these people earn money?

Me too, I guess that’s why I didn’t bristle nearly as hard hearing that Chin, Honnold and Townsend got money. Something about listening to Brody and his girlfriend Katie talk about leveraging advocacy in the digital space makes me want to club baby seals and spray ducks with motor oil though. I just always assumed that that groups main occupation was “trust fund.”

There was a limited amount of money for PPP loans, and many businesses struggled to get money. If influencers we're using that money to support trips to Antarctica or to build sprinter vans, while other legitimate businesses struggled to have money for their payroll, that is fucked up.
You say it's projecting, but it's really common sense. Look at the companies and the size of employees among all of the influencers that received PPP loans - it's about 1 employee across the board. It's obvious that money was not used for payroll of employees and the nature of the businesses listed were not typically affected by COVID. Lockdowns weren't preventing influencers from Backcountry skiing and producing content.
In the grand scheme of things PPP loans were exceptionally fraudulent. The government favored speed to disburse funds over vetting legitimate businesses. It obvious people took advantage when you look at the business type, number of employees and the large expenses they have shown on social media.
And no, I don't care if I like their content, PPP loan fraud is bad in any case (yes that includes using it to invest in a hedge fund)
Oh and billionaires pay their taxes: the top 1% pay 40% of the taxes.

Oooooh the "fact checking sites". A quick Google search of your beloved fact checkers said the stat is verifiably true that the top 1% pays to top 40% income taxes. While their are other taxes outside of income taxes, the idea that billionaires are getting off scot-free is no supported by the statistics.
