Video TR. Alaska basecamp mission. 18 days on the Glacier
Years ago I saw a video here of people going to Alaska, setting up a base camp (they had snow caves.) and ski. It is something that really excited me, but was not sure if I would ever be able to do something like that.
This season I was able to live that dream. We had pretty good weather, about half the days were clear. Plenty of snow and amazing times. Finally I was able to ski an Alaska spine. Pretty addicting.

Sweet, what a great rip and opportunity. Looks like you got some great lines and fresh snow.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

Epic! I'd love to do the same one day. Did you work w/ a guiding service or did you guys plan it all out on your own?

We planned it all on our own. One of our friends lives out there and did a great job getting beta.

Epic and so envious. Anything else that enabled your trip besides your friend (and money)?

If we're gonna wear uniforms, we should all wear somethin' different!

Really the biggest factor that enabled the trip was time. Didn't cost nearly as much as I expected as we had most of the gear.

Dude saw this over on NS. So sick. How long did it take you to plan and organize the whole thing?

Hmmm, for me not that much. One friend took care of the location scouting and talking to the airlines. I bought some gear for it. Pretty much once we got to Anchorage we got picked up by my friend whose local, went to costco and bought all the food, went and got the sat phone then a few extras at a ski shop and walmart.
