Official 2017-2018 College Basketball Thread
I’ve had players of mine play baseball there......they barely got out of HS....and UMBC was one of the only schools that accepted their dumb asses......So my experience is much different than yours......
I could care less.....I was just pissed and bitter that they beat UVM to get into the tourney.
University of Maryland...different story....great school...would be better though if they went back to ACC.Last edited by BC.; 03-17-2018 at 08:05 PM.

Yeah they have a tough road recruiting I think, they don't have the pull of a lot of "name" schools, it wouldn't amaze me if they make academic allowances for kids they think can help them athletically, because they're trying pretty hard to raise their name recognition factor.

Yes, agree....every school has a niche’ and I’m sure UMBC is a good/great school for many kids...the pitcher we have down there now seems to be doing ok. He’s a great kid...he just wasn’t known for his “academics”.
I think the fact that it is in/near Baltimore probably makes a negative impact as well. (Although I always had a good time in Baltimore.)

True
or Loyola, or Towson, but they are what we like to call “the suburbs”.Last edited by BC.; 03-25-2018 at 12:24 PM.

Fuck, ya know, Loyola needs to keep their chins up. 2:00 to go, they're gonna lose. They did all they could. They did great, amazing. Bravo.

I'd root for Kansas solely based on the fact that Devonté Graham is from Raleigh. That's great, and it's enough.
totally separate from the fact that if Kansas wins out I win the pool. really.

Looks tough for KU. Which would be fine for me except that it means it looks good for Villanova.
