Patagonia Micro Puff
A place to discuss Patagucci's new jacket without the spammers link.
(BTW, fuck him and his spam. If he wants to review it he could have done it here, then allow people to go to his shitty website if they chose to.)
Anyway, Patty claims this is as good, as light, and as compressible a down, but doesn't get wet like down, in other words, all the advantages of down without the one downside of down.
Seems awfully high priced for a synthetic, but no doubt it will end up on sale especially when everybody else starts to make a similar product.
I still like my Nano-Air and down sweater as my most used "go to" pieces. Maybe this will change that. I never really like the nano-puff, just never seemed to find the right use for it.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

Good thread. Looking forward to honest reviews. Personally not sure where it fits in my systems as I typically need either highly breathable (i.e. nano-air) or big-time warmth (i.e. big over-the-shell down puffy.)

Good idea for a thread. The problem with synthetic insulation is that long-term use is required to assess durability of original insulation value. Some syn insulation deteriorates, e.g., gen1 Primaloft balling up, and/or otherwise loses loft (and thus insulation value) with use stuff cycling. I'd bet the new Micro Puff works fine out of the box. The question is whether it works as well after a season or two of use.

In my experience Nano Puffs become less warm after not that much use. Hopefully these are better in that respect. I have an older synthetic Montbell that remains quite warm after lots of use. It weighs closer to 1 lb. though.
$300? No way.

IME syn insulation items hold their insulation value longer if they are rolled rather than stuffed. Stuffing breaks down the fibers faster

Here's a review from someone I actually trust to give thoughtful reviews. Nothing more to add but some of you might find it useful

I like the nano air a lot; it's my go-to midlayer/nice weather outer layer. Occasionally I'll use my nano puff for a belay/top-of-the-climb puffy in warm weather, but usually I want something a lot warmer (super floof 800 fill feathered friends hoody). For the most part though I tend to use it when doing things that aren't that aerobic, like walking to work in cold weather. The new micro puff looks like a nice piece of gear but I'm not entirely sure what I'd use it for.

Patagonia Micro Puff
I’d be interested in hearing a side by side comparison of this vs the OR ascendant jacket. Currently using the Atom Lt hoody and there looks to be too much overlap.

Perhaps we should start a blacklist of every product that is spammed through Media310 and propose a boycott of those products. Perhaps poor reviews that would hurt the companies that keep giving him free shit for his BS reviews
