Wyeaster do you have a TLine or Fusion pass? We should meet up and shred sometime this season.

Had a great day up at Hoodoo yesterday. I was not the only one enjoying the windless sun and the freshies. Good snow! I skied half way down Face with good coverage. Didn't go farther since I was worried about getting stranded in the Manzanita mazes down lower. There was at least 2 feet on most of the hill. No rocks. Only problem...no lifts to ride... soon.

Left PDX at 5:30ish, Started skinning at 7:15. Pulled-out of Tline-parking-spot and called wifey at 9:45. Work 2-6pm. Passed-out on couch in front of fire at 7:30pm

I'm looking forward to more precip! I was surprised that the coverage was deeper with the last storm (mid-october) than this one. The quality, though, was real nice yesterday. Orographic chunky-flakes instead of blown-around spikes and needles. Boot-top on the lee-side.

If anyone is reading this and has any interest in exploring Silver-Star/Larch Mtn (WA) area, hit me up. Obviously we need more snow, but when it comes, I want to be ready. I prefer to not go-it alone.

Thanks for the pics FatKid. Beautiful. Timberline website now says they plan to open this Friday. Looks like we might get a refresher and will at least have Pucci going again on Friday.

Frick. Just moved to NM after living in Orygun for 30 years. Of course this year is a stellar early season.

From Mark Nelson. Best weather guy in Pdx:

There is one big bit of good news though…this wet pattern for the lowlands will turn into a heavy snow in the Cascades. Snow levels through Sunday generally remain above the passes, with a good foot or more accumulating at the ski resorts above 5,000′. Then we get a HUGE dumping Monday through Friday next week. ECMWF shows a solid 3-4 feet snow at/above pass elevations:

Even if we get half of that, there’s a good chance we’ll have some decent skiing starting up the weekend before Thanksgiving. If so, that’ll be fantastic to get the ski season started in mid-November!

Windy.com (you can pull up the same underlying info meteorologists are looking at). There's a "new snow" feature. The 10 day view isn't the most reliable but damn...

Perhaps you are right, in truth, I do not watch tv live much, and never the local news. I go with Mark because I enjoy his blog. He's fairly active, and in my opinion, accuracy is good:

    https://fox12weather.wordpress.com/

I also am a member of a few facebook weather groups that he gets involved in. I enjoy his honesty, transparency, ability to give laymens terms, but to also dive deep into thinking\explanation for the weather nerds. (Which I aspire to be!)

Agreed on your first point, and weatherperson's aside...powder is what matters!!!
