I heard they give out Goose Island at the finish line.
    I'm super excited about that.
That might be the best pint I've ever had.

Have you done the race before?

It can be frickin cold at the start. Bring a disposable jacket.

Not Chicago, but I ran NYC marathon couple years ago.
I'm hoping for the temp to drop at least 20 degree.
As of now, it's way too hot for me.
(I'm looking at Chicago's 10 day forecast several times a day)
I run hot, so mid 50's ideal.

I normally shop $10-30 worth of clothes from Salvation Army or Goodwill for throw away layers.
I look like a fat hobo on race day morning.

As others have said...Lou's, Giordanno's, Gino's. Started out a Giordanno's fan, my sister worked there in college. But since moving to Hellinois have been converted over to Lou's. Can't really go wrong. Grabbing a dipped Italian beef at Portillo's, Buena, etc is also a good idea.

Don't be concerned about walking around the day before. Just don't overdo it.

Was just there in July. It's pretty much rush hour 24/7.

Take the El for sure--pretty much always faster than cab/uber. Blue line should get you within shouting distance of your hotel (depending on exactly it is).

Chicago deep dish pizza & sushi restaurant recommendation needed!

    So, I was thinking.

    Friday:

    Arrive.
    Expo to pick up bob.
Dinner at one of pizza joint you guys recommend.

    Saturday:

    Italian beef lunch somewhere.
John Hancock Center, Museum of Contemporary Art and Architecture cruise.
    Dinner at Juno for sushi.

    Sunday:

    Race day.
After the race, small get together with other runners.
Dinner at Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse.

    Monday:

Breakfast if I wake up early enough.
    Departure.

Wanted to squeeze in a sport massage to recover and stop by Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago since it's right in front of my hotel.
But I don't know when I'll have time for these two...

So, a beef is just an overstuffed and overflavored philly?

Ginos East is good, Lou Malnatis is ok, Girdanos is fine...but whoever suggested the delivery from Chicagos has the right idea. Lived there for the better part of a decade and it was the best IMV.

Sushi in Chicago, strong pass. Think how far away from Chicago that fish was caught.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

Sushi is almost always frozen before being served, regardless of where it is served.

I don't like pasta to load carb though.
Rice is so much easier to process than pasta.
And fish is better protein to digest as well.

Carbo loading is unnecessary. Stick to a normal diet, or, in this case, something you enjoy.
